Role
Tialan ar'Larencia

In his youth he was a sworn to an Order of healers, for years he trained at a
monastery deep within the mountains, healing the wounded and ill brought from
front lines of the War wth the Shadow. But in his heart a feeling began to grow,
he became dicontent with serving the Light only after the wounds were given,
much prayer, and many talks with the head of the Order, he left that path and
set his feet upon the path of the Knighthood. In his heart he still feels the
shame of that broken oath, and will always go above and beyond in trying to
prove himself to those of the Fortress, sometimes to his detriment. Having
once began to walk the path of a paladin, he has dedicated himself to it wholly,
having little time for leisure or other matters, he seeks to train himself
to as near perfection as is possible for a mortal.
He is soft spoken for an elf, not haughty or condesending in any manner, this
comes from his self-doubt mostly, the feeling that people will not trust
him to hold to his word, after having walked away from the first Oath. However
he does not mind speaking his mind when he sees those around him doing something
which goes against his basic beliefs, or what he feels is proper behavior
for a member of the Fortress. He has little trust for those who are not of the
Light, considering them to be sitting upon the fence, crying for the aid of
the Light today, only to join with the Shadow and slay the Light the next
moment, as such he will rarely travel with them, to learn or to explore, as he
this as putting strength, and weapons into the hands of those who will use
them for ill.
Having been accepted into the religion of Lady Baerinika, he has turned
his focus inward upon himself, looking for flaws within himself that should
be purged from a holy knight. In his dealing with his Goddess, he is
somewhat awkward, always at the back of his mind that thought that he is not
worthy of Her blessings. He seeks to prove himself upon the field of combat,
both to his Lady, and to himself, and will often be found rushing into battles
that are somewhat beyond a single knight. Being that he holds Courage as
the focus for his worship, he has always striven to have neither friend nor foe
see him to show fear in any manner.
The Fortress

A huge gray figure swings a massive mace, its notched head whistling through
the air and barely missing the head of the warrior striking at him, plunging
an iron dagger which drips venom into his body over and over. From the south
comes a young elven male, at the run, his shining sword flashing forward as he
places himself between the figure and the warrior. The warrior circles warily,
looking for a moments hesitation in the movement of the elfs shield, to lunge
in and sever the back of his leg. As he makes his move the elven man utters a
brief prayer to the Lady Baerinika, and a column of searing white light shoots
the heavens, shaking the warrior heavily and causing him to fall to his knees,
but before the elf can react, he springs back to his feet and lunges forward,
severing the main artery in the elves shield arm, causing it to drop low.
Without thought the elf calls upon the Jaguar, sealing his wounds with a
brilliant golden light, at the same time he slams his shield into the warriors
face, knocking him off his feet. He moves forward swiftly, his sword cutting
long bleeding wounds into the warriors exposed flesh, driving him away from
the bleeding figure of the Tara Bal. A moment before his death, the warrior
turns and dashes away, reaching into his pack he pulls out a glass flask, pulls
the stopper and quaffs it in one huge gulp, disappearing instantly.
A young elven man moves silenty through the woods, his sword at the ready and
his senses alert to any movement, in the distance to the north you can barely
out the gray stone walls of the Fortress. Reports came in that a fire giant
had been spotted in the area, and the call came to him through an elder Maran,
clear the area of all tainted as the Tara Bal is heavily wounded and being
tended by the Acolytes, Imperials expected at any time to try and retrieve their
vile Codex. He moves along warily, intent upon his surroundings as only his
kin may be, with barely a whisper a massive giant steps from his cover and
hurtles himself bodily into the elf, smashing him to the ground, two huge
axes gripped in either hand he batters past hasty defenses, scoring heavy
wounds into the elven mans flesh. Trying to raise his shield to intercept
the incoming axe, he is a moment slow in realizing the trap, and once more he
is slammed to the ground by five hundred pounds of muscle and bone, his thoughts
frazzled by the sudden onslaught. He turns and tries to crawl away into the
brush, hoping to elude his much larger foe there, but before he can move an
gargantuan axe cleaves a furrow into the back of his head, and he knows nothing
but darkness.
Learning the Blade
Added Wed Jun 24 15:08:31 2009 at level 23:
A elven male dressed in armor which shines which shines with a holy light,
stands alone amidst the darkened catacombs of some long deserted mausuleum,
the shambling forms of zombies and skeletons can be seen gathering about
him from every direction. A gleaming sword flashes like lightning in the
darkness, cleaving the head from the first of the undead to reach him,
spinning upon his heel he drops low and takes the legs from two more as
they draw near. With a mighty swing of his shield, he batters away a
third, smashing its long rotten skull to splinters before it falls at
his feet.
Without a sound, a pair of hands reach from the shadows, wrapping quickly
around the elven mans throat, attempting to render him unconscious. With
a vicious thrust of his elbow, he drives his assailant away, turning to
face him as he brings up sword and shield in a defensive posture. With
a sneer the Oathed assassin rushes in, daggers flashing in the faint light as
he seeks to land a killing strike. His sword a blur the elven man launches
his own assault, narrowing his eyes as he utters a brief prayer to the Jaguar,
a massive column of flame rises around the assassin, searing armor and flesh
with the power of his Goddess. The assassin falls to his knees, smoke pouring
from the empty sockets of his eyes, and swiftly the elven man grants him release
with a swift thrust to the heart.
Faint streamers of mist whip through a jungle clearing, driven by a moaning
wind as they part around the ruins of some ancient building slowly being
reclaimed by the jungle. The shadowy forms of large cats move silently through
the mists, pacing around the form of the elven male kneeling reverently before
an ancient altar, his sword laid across the palms of his hands as he utters
oaths of his devotion. The faint light fades away leaving the clearing in near
darkness, and yet the elven man kneels, sword raised upon his palms as he
prays for guidance from the Lady Baerinika.

A young elven male stands within a well established circle, the gray stones of
the paladins guild house stretching up into the shadows overhead, his lean body
covered with sweat and bruises from the rigorous training. Two others lay upon
dirt floor, their breathing coming in labored gasps, as a third warily circles
him the tip of his blade darting to and fro like a serpent. His piercing green
eyes gaze intently at his foe, never blinking even as beads of stinging sweat
roll down his forehead. Two elder knights sit outside the circle, watching the
training with an intensity born of long years of devotion to battling the
shadow.
Pale blond hair falls sweatily across his face, his almond shaped eyes are
closed as he kneels before a candle lit Shrine, praying fervently. A sparsely
furnished room surrounds him, austere in its simplicity yet nonetheless a warm
feeling seems to emanate. Leather armor rests upon a rack in the corner, a
dull sword resting in a stand next to it. Just as he opens his eyes and rises
to his feet, a brief knock at the door before it slowly opens to reveal an
elder knight, nodding as he notices the simple shrine erected in the corner.
"If you continue to seek my pupil, in time you will find your faith renewed,"
standing before an ornately carved chair, a knight dressed in immaculate
armor of burnished platinum addresses the young elf. "It is no easy thing
for a man to turn his back on his beliefs, though I myself cannot understand
what calls a man of the Light to forswear battle and turn his hands to healing.
You are not less than you were, your eyes have been opened to a need, a need
that can only be met with a sword. You have chosen to battle the Shadow,
a task that will test every thing you hold dear, that will require devotion
that most men do not possess. Do not feel as if you have chosen the easy
road, for I can promise you, your Courage shall be tested to its breaking point
before your end comes."
The Calling
Added Mon Jun 22 14:43:02 2009 at level 16:
An austere building of massive gray stones looms out of the mist, rising
through the swirling air its towers and columns part the mist like the prow
of a ship upon the sea. A line of white robed figures moves slowly though the
courtyard, their cowled heads bowed as they chant in some unknwon tongue, their
hands folded into the voluminous sleeves of their robes. Inexorably the
courtyard fills, and your eyes are drawn to two men standing before a raised
lectern. Dressed in white robes, an ancient man of obvious elven heritage stands
before a much younger member of his race, this one dressed in the gray robes
of a Neonate. The elder speaks vehemently to the younger, his eyes and even his
movement seeming to implore the young man in some manner, though you cannot
quite catch what he is saying.
A young elven male, dressed in shabby leather armor, a dulled sword strapped
clumsily across his back, stands within the narrow confines of a monastic
bedchamber. A simple cot, a wardrobe of warped and twisted wood and a cracked
bowl upon a battered washstand being the only decoration. His green eyes bear
a sorrowful cast as he folds the last of a neat stack of grey robes, laying
it gently within the wardrobe, his hand lingering upon the rough material for
the briefest of moments. With a soft shake of his head, he pulls his hand
away, closes the wardrobe softly and slowly walks from the room, his leather
armors creaking loudly in the surrounding silence.
The frenzied noise of a major city assaults your senses, the cry of hawkers,
yelling of children running wild in the streets, and above all the odiferous
stench of animals long pent up, and not often cleaned. A young elven man makes
his way slowly down the street, his eyes wary as he is jostled and pummeled by
customary crowds. His hand never strays far from the worn hilt of a dulled sword
strapped comfortably across his back, he scans the nearby buildings for the one
he seeks, the end of a journey began months before, and the beginning of his
life as a knight of the lands.
