Description
Standing 12 feet tall, a compact storm giant towers over his
surroundings. A thick topknot of coral green hair descends down from his
crown to his robust shoulders. Brown eyes gaze steadily over the
horizon, ever alert. A black paint of mud is smeared under each eye,
perhaps as war paint, or simply to block glare. His coral green beard
encroaches on his mouth. It thick and belies his experience. Hardened
armors adorn his massive limbs. Heavy plates protect the vitals in his
chest, and a weapon, so large that only a giant could easily wield it,
stands at the ready beside him.

It has to start somewhere. Part 1

A common start for a simple fisherman that worked hard for his family;
every dawn he would gather up his harpoon and nets, then swim through
rough currents to find enough food to provide for his family and earn a
modest wage from the sale of his catch.
Though their home was not luxurious by any stretch, they were well
maintained and each of his six children had small rooms of their own.
Toktok made additions with each birth. Although they were not wealthy in
coin, they were rich in love.
He returned one night to find his life in ruin. His wife had been beaten
raped and crucified upside down, his children were locked into the house
and then it was set on fire. Their screams would have been heard for
miles as they were burned alive. He cried and moaned as he held his dead
wife in his arms. Marauders had come seeking the riches of the house and
when they found none they tortured his wife for a location to a treasure
that didn't exist.
He buried his family with soil and tears. A pillar of corral he
constructed over their gravesite. Inscribed into the pillar he engraved
"In the loving memory of my family, I will make this right." (Life long
dedication)
Taking up his harpoon for the purpose of retribution, he set out to exact
justice for his family. For two weeks he tracked the pillaging of these
murderers. They left a clear trail of death and ash. He took the time to
bury those that met their untimely end and then pressing harder after the
band, hoping that next time he would be there before they brought
violence. (Champion dedication since he is already familiar with long
weapons)
It was the following night that he crested a hill and found the band of
marauders. They had one sentry posted and another dozen round two fires.
Carousing and living in revelry, it would be hard to identify that this
band were raping thieves and murders if it were not for the blood and
soot that stained their leather armor and shoddy weapons.
He charged in - his fury and love driving him forward. He impaled three
that stood to see the bellowing charger! From charge to bestial fury he
grabbed the nearest bandit by the ankle and used him as a living club
smashing other bandits until the bandit fell limp from broken limbs and a
crushed skull. He barely noticed as a dagger was stabbed into his thigh.
Ripping a tent pole out of the ground he began and bludgeoning the
remaining bandits. None were prepared to deal with the rage and fury
wrought this night. One bandit gathering his senses to the situation
attempted to flee, but with all his might Toktok launched the tent pole
like a lance towards the fleeing bandit smashing a deadly blow to the
upper spine. (Sphere Courage)

With his families murderers justifiably dispatched he sat down and
reflected. How had he survived that? Wait! Wasn't he stabbed? He
looked at his hip where a gaping wound should be, but found it perfectly
healed, as though he had never been stabbed. This was the first time
Baerinika aided him against evil. Though he didn't really understand it
he knew he was blessed this eve. He was called. He knew that he must
fight against evil, but not like this, not with furious rage, but with
focus and measured strikes so that it would do the most good.
For a decade he sojourned in random locations, joining with whatever
random force was fighting an evil. He became known for his strength of
courage. His comrades looked up to him and fed off his strength to drive
them on. As he encouraged his fellow soldiers he became increasing more
aware that he was blessed, but did not know by whom. (Sphere Courage)
A paladin on crusade happened upon Toktok as he traveled about to another
land. The paladin seeing that he was good of heart asked that he come
and break bread with him for a night and have communion together. They
talked of the fight against evil, the calculating power of might without
bloodlust and fury. The calling of those blessed by the divine was a
topic of much interest to both of them. It was from this discussion that
Toktok inquired to the directions to the Academy for Paladins. He hoped
while there to better understand this connection to a god or goddess he
did not yet know, and how to become a more focused warrior for good.

Having moved out of the Academy and taken up residence in the Paladin
hall in the Voralian city has a better understand of the prayers to the
his divine mentor. As he does not yet know who exactly this god or
goddess is, he has inquired and spoke with many to gain perspective and
understanding. The two most notable illuminators were a person from the
Inn of the Eternal Star as well as the Handmaiden to the Goddess Rayihn
and Oshui Marshall of the Fortress.
When Toktok explained his past and explained the courage and strength the
handmaiden pointed me in the direction of Lady Baerinika, but having
known that this all came about due to the love she speculated that Lady
Rayihn was a possibility too. Marshall Oshui provided the most guidance
in Toktok's decision to seek Lady Baerinika. Marshall Oshui spoke of how
Lady Baerinika supports those that follow their own paths of
self-discovery, improvement and taking the initiative for oneself. This
all rang true to Toktok and it was from there that he was determined to
find that it was Lady Baerinika that had blessed his calling as a true
path.
First we meet, then we fight.

Although Toktok has always knew that the Jaguar walked with him on his
path, it was uplifting to his spirits to be able to sit down with the
Jaguar and talk openly of things that were on his mind.
While prowling jaguars casually stalked in and out of the mists, they had
a candid conversation of Toktoks past gave him closure and understanding
of his past grief. This helped to solidify his promise to his family,
and yet at the same time clearly expand it to what it needs to be, to war
against evil.
Their discussion on self-discipline and temperance in regards to purity
was thought provoking in that Toktok was not as aware of his feelings in
these matters until he put them to words. First one applies temperance
until they are self-disciplined and trained, then with the knowledge
already learned they let go of the tools of temperance and strive towards
purity with fortitude, dedication, and courage.
They ended their conversation with the revelation to Toktok that
invigorated his resolve. Even back before he had taken up banners
against evil, the Jaguar saw the strength in him. He has strength and he
is going to use it!
Now he is back off to war with thoughts of free will against fate,
mastering himself and lettings go of the tool temperance that he uses
now, while still remembering the virtues of temperance. Each stride
against evil builds his fortitude and helps him to better understand his
own purity.
Second meeting, then off to war.

With clarity from his combat, he approached the Jaguar again in
conversation. He spoke to her of how fate brings us to choices, but we
are free to act or not to act to choose what we do. Even when fate
plays its hand before us, we still decide who we are and what we will do.
That is who we are.
Here he stood before her and as fate brought him to the choice he
affirmed before the Jaguar his cognitive choice that he would not succumb
to the anger and rage from the loss of his family, nor would he wallow in
grief and sadness. He will take arms up and go to war against evil.
During this time with the Jaguar, Toktok asked if he would be made an
initiate of the Jaguar. From which he received further understanding of
faith and the life long journey towards purity. One should always be
striving to better themselves, to evolve and take pride in
accomplishments.
A boon to his fortitude this time with the Jaguar was. He feels that
temperance is no longer a tool required of him. He is a soldier of the
Jaguar, and remembering the virtues of his training he goes to war
and contemplates the tenants of courage.
Third meeting, why we fall.

Confident in the views of courage he spoke to the Jaguar. She found his
insights to have both the right and wrong understandings. As always, she
guided Toktok on the path towards purity through understanding. With
eyes opened to a deeper understanding of courage his is stronger than
ever, and he sees courage ever more readily in his friends in the
fortress.
"Why are you fighting," asked Baerinika? It was a simple question that
seemed to stump Toktok. He knew his original reason for starting down
the path, his family. But when he answered that without true examination
he found himself in the exact same trap that he had shown to Morgan Rose
when he spoke to her about her pledge to the fortress and squires. She
spoke of how she was going to fix the wrongs that had been done because
of her old job. The fight against wicked is not a forced duty because of
an obligation. It is something that is chosen and done because of the
righteousness of it.
He feels blessed with a sense of hope now, and in that hope his vision of
a world without evil is a glimmer on the horizon. (Virtue Hope)
Now as he walks his path with the Jaguar he will look and think about the
journey towards purity.
The fall of the Ancients.

Long before he reached the pinnacle of his guild he courageously strode
in to the lairs of all the ancient dragons and with the blessings of the
Jaguar, Rydell an old Acolyte and a band of adventurers. In each lair he
set his stance and marshaled the band behind him as they destroyed the
great evils.
It was a bonding journey with he and Rydell. They are much closer now,
at least from Toktok's view. Especially after they sat and talked at the
Altar of the fortress for long periods of time. To Toktok Rydell is a
shining example of what a Cardinal should be.
The War Rages on and Attrition takes its toll.

Toktok feels the pangs of war as he sees the pillars of the Fortress
crumble from age and the constant battering against the storm of evil.
Oshui the great marshal and heart of the Jaguar passes on with old age.
He will forever remember the time that this great man. For even with his
great duties, he took the time to go train with Toktok as a young newly
mantles squire so that Toktok could learn to master his strengths as a
Champion.
Next fell Grejjyan, an example as a squire to preserver and rise to the
rank or Maran. He burned like the brilliant flames of the phoenix and
Toktok happily knew that Grejjyan would rise again from his ashes on
calmer seas in the beyond.
Morgan Rose, one of his first pledges he spoke to as a squire, attained
the rank of Maran but the war took its toll on her and she fell away into
despair and died. Toktok vows to keep a closer watch on his fellow
members of the fortress and see that Morale is kept high, even in the
bleakest of hour.
Tulgrumm the last standing leader of the Maran and Captain of the war was
crushing to Toktok. Long had his looked to Tolgrum as the voice of the
Jaguar and often sought guidance on the path to purity from his teachings
and words. With his passing there were no Maran left to lead the
squires. This was a dark cloud on the horizon that Toktok was sailing
towards.
The Cardinal makes a request.

Rydell has been chose as Cardinal of the Fortress. This gladdens Toktok
as he knows Rydell will lift spirits of the few squires and the Acolytes.
After defeating Arratok, the duergar commander of battle, Toktok set out
to cut the nets of the empire by taking their codex. The Cardinal meets
up with him and aids him in battle. They have grown to be a good team,
fending off each others foes.
The Cardinal queried Toktok to how many of the wicked he had slain.
Toktok only replied that he never counted his victories. He humbly said
that just moves on and fights the next wave of evil to crash upon the
shores of Thera.
As they handed the Codex over to the Marshal the Cardinal asked that
Toktok step in and be a leader among his peers. Continue to lead by
example and mentor those of the fortress in war. Rydell said he would
ask The Jaguar to strength Toktok and speak to her about his leadership
qualities.
Toktok often says, "We mortals cannot see all ends. What matters is what
we chose to do when fate brings us to an end." This is another one of
those ends.
A plight of the Prophet.
Added Sun Jun 9 09:24:02 2013 at level 51:
After routing the attempts of Scion mages in retrieving their scepter
from the Fortress Toktok noted an silver raven with an aura of evil
perched inside the fortress, looking over the prophet and the newly
reborn Lady Voralia. With speed of the Jaguar strode into the courtyard
and called the wrath of the Jaguar on the wicked raven. Then the prophet
of light released the raven from sight. Andira, the Elder Prophet of the
Fortress, has a familiar whose aura is evil.
This bothered Toktok greatly and as he listened to the Prophet, she told
him of how her Goddess Amaranthe had bestowed upon her the silver raven,
the ferryman of death. She said that the raven is simply misunderstood
as evil because it is so associated with death. Her words painted the
scenario, but when Toktok asked her, "What would the Jaguar do if she saw
the Raven?" To which she shuddered and said she didn't want to think
what Baerinika would do.
With Andira rested he vowed to seek counsel with the Jaguar over this as
he found conflict, for to slay the raven would be to bring direct harm to
Andira the chosen Elder Prophet of the Fortress. She seems to be a frustrated
by this as Toktok is.
