Description
An ebon-skinned duergar stands here, facial features hidden behind
what appears to be a hideous death mask of a human male. His
eyes gleam with an almost unnatural brightness, his unwavering
gaze fixed on something that only he can see.
He is enshrouded in a well worn skin or leather cloak of some
sort fashioned into an impromptu cloak. The rest of his trappings
are concealed within, with the exception of his right hand gripping
his weapon. The ungloved hand clasped around the glove seems
to be seeping blood, a slow stream that seems to follow down
the contours of his weapon, dripping slowly off the tip.
Role
Empowerment
Added Fri Nov 11 13:33:15 2005 at level 25:
The second encounter with the Muse led to his empowerment, a
process Turian still does not fully understand. The muse wished him
to gain strength, and grow in power, with childlike acceptance he just
took the statement as is, and as it is his Goddess' will, therefore it
became his.
To become stronger, and to make beautiful things.
Turian realized soon enough that the act of beautifying various living
things made him stronger, and therefore continued to kill one thing
after another, consuming or adorning himself with bodyparts when
they caught his interest.
Everything is still little more than play to him, he plays with his own
flesh, those of that he kills, and those he travels with when he
believes they are not looking. Almost anything can catch his fancy
making him stare at it for hours at an end.
Maturing
Added Sun Nov 13 13:19:03 2005 at level 29:
As Turian starts to mature and grows stronger, his mind matures as
well. Where once there was little more than a childlike devotion to the
Goddess, his mind now begins to question is own path, seeking a
reasons for doing what he does. As his devotion to his Goddess
takes a firmer hold on his psyche, and that to his Mistress is
lessened more and more, he starts to realize his burning desire to
become beautiful was the wish of his Mistress, perhaps not his own.
Unwilling to accept that his single most important goal in his life might
be anything less than what it was, he regresses slightly, becoming
even simpler than he was, his outward obsession with his
appearance growing as the inner doubt increases.

A duergar child captured by a drow war party, he was sold to the
surface into the home of a wealthy half-elven merchant in Seantryn
Modan as a curiosity.
Unfortunately for him, the merchant's young wife was an mad woman
that secretly worshipped Eshval. She named the young duergar Turian,
the name of her lost love, and took it upon herself to create her ultimate
masterpiece using the child, attempting to remold Turian's duergar
features into one resembling her dead lover....
Believing should she succeed, she would be able to bring her dead
lover back to life.
Over the course of the next thirty years, Turian's face was cut, molded
and sewed again and again, the mad woman's vain attempts to
recreate her lover's facial features creating a gruesome deathmask of a
young human male, as it was all Turian knew, he came to believe that
he was becoming beautiful, though he did not understand the meaning
of the word.
from his mistress became a part of his life, one he came to accept as
the whole of his existance. Her chosen goddess became his as well,
her goals became his own. He began praying, praying to become as
beautiful as mistress wished.
But then one day, the master of the house found his wife's secret in the
cellar. And to his horror, as mangled they were, he recognized the face
of the duergar that was chained in the cellar as the same face of the
young man he had his servants dispose of all those years ago in an
attempt to win over his wife. In a fit of rage he struck down his wife on
the spot, upon seeing this, Turian realized his hopes of becoming
beautiful were now gone forever, and in despair he called upon Eshval
to give him the strength to avenge his mistress.
He does not remember what happened afterwards, he only recalls
washing up on the shores of Hamsah Mutazz, with a single goal in
mind, to find his Goddess, that she might guide him, might make him
beautiful as he should be.

Added Tue Nov 8 22:06:38 2005 at level 2:
The first encounter with the Muse was the most significant event in
his life, confirming the existence of the goddess he had prayed to
his whole life, and reaffirming the possibility of his salvation.
She tells him what he seeks must be earned, and he gladly accepts
the task given to him, to make beautiful things for his Goddess.
When reformed in Galadon, he begins searching for beauty, or
things that possesses the possibiliy of becoming something truly
beautiful. He understands fully well what's expected of him, and
his child-like mind focuses on this with the singular determination that
can only be found in an innocent untainted mind like his. He intends
to carry out his Goddess's will, creating ultimate beauty, so that he
himself may have his own.
