Description

A pair of bright, round orange globes blink on and off from within the shadows. They sparkle with a thrill and a bit of mischief. This felar is lithe and sleek with jet black fur from head to toe. His toned arms and legs reflect a martial prowess and if you stare long enough he will flex a bicep with a wink. His left paw has five claws and his right paw has six, all of which are sharp and lengthy with a silver shine that reflects in the light. His movements are calculated and graceful, like a paintbrush running across a canvas. If you lean in close enough one can smell whiskey or wine on his breath but with a hint of cream. You also spy razor-edged teeth, pearly white in a smirking snarl. His purr is warm and full-bodied, as if forming inside of an oaken barrel.

Role

Morning Mantra

Added Wed Jan 24 14:21:34 2024 at level 14:
Right mate, you get up when the sun winks at you and you look at the bottle on
the table and you know you've been foolish again but it's time to work and
you've gotta work as you've a mouth or two to feed and if you don't send back
that bit of scratch you're gonna hear that angry little high pitched voice
again who is just gonna tell you you're just like your dad and you're not like
your dad and you're gonna get better and you're gonna make it right but it
means you've got to get up and the sun may be mean and the sun may be large but
it's up, so you're up, so get to work

Interview - A Mother to Samerrin's Children

Added Wed Jan 24 14:22:54 2024 at level 14:
Tzam? When I met him he still went by Samerrin, which I think was his mother's
name, I'm not sure what the story was there. We were young. You have to
understand, we were very, very young. And we were in love. It was stupid,
foolish, the kind of thing you do when you're young, in love, you don't know
what you're doing, I mean how could you? He was handsome, clever,
silver-tongued, and eyes that just lit up and lit you up and the next thing you
know you're on a bed, or you're near a bed, and all sense is gone, all sensible
decision-making, thinking about your future, thinking about ramifications...
it's all gone. It's amazing. Wonderful. Best night of your... you know. But
you're left knocked up when you have no business caring for little ones and he
has even less. That's harsh, he was kind and he was caring, but the wind was
going to take him away the first time it so much as even gusted. Maybe we would
have been able to make it, he did come back and see them, many times. And he
always brought coin. Once he came by drunk, he was almost always near drunk,
but rarely actually drunk, this time he came by full on about to pass out
drunk. He had robbed some merchant in Hamsah, after robbing another merchant in
Hamsah, but this one... this was not one he would have robbed if he had his
sense about him. It was a good man, someone with wife and kids probably, a
golden glow about him and Samerrin, the fool, had neglected to even check
before he started a fight by putting his paws where they weren't welcome and it
ended with a dead man who had done no wrong. That weighed on him, Samerrin, or
Tzam, I mean. He told me that night he was going by Tzam now and I told him I'd
never call him that. A week later I had to write him a letter, how a fire and
its war had come and that not all of us made it out okay. The Imperial conquest
was marching at the time. Not a single one of his children had survived the
attack. I told him not to come back. As you can see that's not true but it's
better for me, and him, and ours for that lie to last a while. I'm sorry. I'm
sorry, I don't want to talk about this anymore.

Interview - A Little Death

Added Wed Jan 24 14:23:29 2024 at level 14:
Tzam? Oh he's been here all right. Not three days ago. Smelled of whiskey and
smelled of wine. Said he'd found a font of fortified fire that let him quench
what he otherwise never quite could. He said it just like that. Just as proud
of his pretty words as anything else he seemed proud of. And it was charming,
at the time. After that's a bit of a blur, he said some unrepeatable but
persuasive things to me and I commented on the extra claws upon his paws before
he offered to show me their benefits. He seemed to be riding high from having
escaped death in Galadon, or at least before being brought back to the land of
the living. He had robbed an Imperial Recruiter, about as dumb a thing as one
could imagine and he promised he would do it again, and again, until he could
do it without the Empire being ever the wiser. He said something before taking
another swig of whatever bottle he had about how the Empire had killed his
family and then went right back to bragging that one day he'd steal the scales
off Tiamat's back without her even seeing him to which I responded he should
talk less if he wanted to steal anything including the last bit of fabric I was
wearing. That did the trick and he didn't say anything else that night. He was
gone in the morning.

The Big Score of Mr. Tzipp, An Investigation, Part One

Added Thu Feb 8 10:05:32 2024 at level 31:
First to my superiors and benefactors, I wish to apologize for the informality
of my previous missives regarding the investigation into and future
apprehension of Mr. Sammerrin "Tzam Tzipp" Tzeprian. My earlier notes had his
given name misspelled as I had some difficulty tracking down his birth details
or any details about him prior to his life of crime. Most recently I was able
to acquire the written words of a nursery rhyme his mother apparently sang to
him confirming the correct spelling of his name along with clarifying his
actual last name from other records I was able to discover on the property.

Previously I was able to secure testimonies of two individuals from Copeham Inn
capable of identifying the suspect, one early rising renter who overheard him
speaking what best could be described as a morning mantra and one bar regular
who disclosed intimate relations with the suspect some two or three days
before. Presuming, correctly, that he had some connection to Blackclaw Village,
I was able to find a woman with three children who she claimed were the progeny
of Mr. Tzeprian though she was reluctant to provide much more information other
than a confirmation of his existence and that he no longer visited her at her
insistence.

While there is still no sign of the missing one pound, seven and a half ounce
diamond, I am beginning to believe that it is unlikely Mr. Tzeprian will fence
the precious stone but rather, it may have some sentimental value to it. My
next leads are a drinking companion, a lead on which of the major guilds he is
a member of, and a bounty hunter of some renown from Dagdan.

Again, my apologies for the lack of professionalism in my previous reports, I
will ensure going forward to provide additional contextual information
pertinent to the investigation. As such I have notarized this report as the
first in its sequence. I appreciate the transfer to my account at the end last
month and I understand that only two more months are currently under contract.
I will make haste in bringing this matter to a close and to your full
satisfaction.

multiple individuals to open. Should any of the keys or the pressure pad not be
activated simultaneously, dozens of stringed bells will ring and a sleeping gas
will be emitted.

X = Key hole points, six at each corner requiring four wide multi-pronged keys
to be simultaneously entered by two separate individuals (one at the top and
one at the bottom), the top left key has a central hole large enough for a
second person to put a finger through the middle of it to account for the
pressure pad
P = Pressure pad, small spring block that must be lightly touched by a third
individual at the exact same time as the four keys are entered

NOTES: A single double-prong pick was found and appears to have been used on
the bottom right keyhole

Interview - Hamsah Imbiber of No Particular Occupation

Added Sun Mar 3 13:55:59 2024 at level 36:
Tzam? Never heard of him. You Spire? If you're Spire you have to say you're
Spire. 'Sides that warrant's all cleared up. Oh Imperial business. My mistake.
Mr. Tzipp? Maybe. There was a black cat in here weeks ago and I heard him and
some lowlife talk about a guard who was sleepy and a four man job with room for
two. Didn't catch all of the chatter. Your Tzam did say to me after he was
right drunk and the other fellow left that he had rules, like never steal from
someone you wouldn't kill. Don't lie or cheat someone you wouldn't steal from.
He smelled like that rose wine in Tir-Talath but absolutely had that Galadon
accent to him. He was gone after two more drinks he didn't need. But if you're
lookin' for him, I'd check that five finger discount rathole of a guild, if I
was you. Me? Hamsah born and raised but, uh, glory to the Empire and all that.
Beg your pardon, but uh, I'm gonna go see a centaur about his half-a-horse.

Interview - Name and Occupation Redacted

Added Sun Mar 3 21:29:38 2024 at level 36:
Twenty gold. Twenty five if we're negotiating. Right. One sentence a coin and
five for flinching. I saw him fresh out of the academy. Started here and worked
on the same dumb things every dumb thief works out of the academy. Looking over
and over again, hiding over and over again, picking locks over and over again,
you know the type. Nothing special. He does odd jobs for the crypt keeper and
the lumber yard barker, saves up for his guild dues and he pays them. Has his
first talk with the Queenpin, her term not mine, Skaya. She's of the Tribunal
so this whole city is locked tight. I hear he goes elsewhere to pilfer, Dagdan
and Udgaard mainly. I saw him walking with some uptight Fortress types and a
Villager drunk. His second convo with the Queenpin is a laugh, he can't cant
and so he catches every other word but it's the usual, 'Fealty or death.'
'Don't come at me, I will blackball you and hunt you to the ends of the earth.'
'Chin up, here's some shiny trinkets and fifty gold.' Less words between them
than between me and you so far. Only other pattern I seen or heard of him is
he's shite for gambling at the Star and someone saw him fly off a bridge near
the Shadow Peaks. Oh and he sells the scraps he finds here, there, and
everywhere, but mainly here, Cragstone, and Dagdan. You north-of-Balator types
have a man running Dagdan. Easy to spot him there if you can't catch him here.
Now I'm out of sentences and you've spent your coin. Don't let a word of this
come back on me or I'll cut your slimy tongue out through a new hole in your
neck. Pleasure doing business.

Interview - Dagdanian Bounty Hunter

Added Mon Mar 11 15:31:11 2024 at level 36:
Nice to see you, Inquisitor. Brundlir mentioned you snooping around Tree Road.
I assume you're inquiring about the tipsy black cat of Galadon? We know him
well. Robs the shopkeeps once a week. Robbed the mayor a half dozen times.
Foolishly planted trinkets on the captain and stole them back from the Man
himself. Mostly he stays to the shadows so you only catch him when you're
staring. But I'm sure you want to know about the night he was up to hiding
something all while drunker than an Eternal Star. Sure. He was whistling and
humming about two hours before midnight. We heard him come up the trail.
Already you could smell the wine on his breath from outside the bar before he
even walked through the door. I mean through every drink and bottle at
Norman's, a place that serves you liquor by the gallon, you could smell him.
Smashed. Maybe he was hallucinating. Because he certainly was talking under his
breath and looking every which a way like demons, angels, and ghosts were at
every corner of his vision. He barely acknowledged anyone when he made his way
in, just asked to borrow a tool. He slurred his syllables so badly that we
think he tried to say shovel but just found it too hard to get the word out.
Someone gave him a shovel, tried to make a joke about a dead body but he was
out the door before the punchline even delivered. He brought the tool back
inside and dropped down five gold. Far too much for such a short bit of work.
And then he was gone. Four of us waited to see if he'd come back and sat around
until well after midnight. When he didn't show, we dug everywhere we could to
see what he might have buried. I swear to you on my mother's soul, no one found
a thing. Two nights later, the now slightly sober black cat of Galadon was
back. He brought his own shovel but we heard him digging. He spent so much time
poking around and slinging dirt that a ranger tried to scare him off. At a
certain point the cat seemed hellbent on removing every blade of grass in his
search. Next night, back he is, and still seemingly at it. This goes on for two
weeks. Last time he looked you could hear him cry a little bit. Or laugh maybe.
Whatever it was, maybe just a soft mewl, it was the last time we heard him
round. And I think whatever he buried there is truly lost for good.

Unless it was all for show? Wouldn't that be clever.

The Big Score of Mr. Tzipp, An Investigation, Part Two

Added Sun Apr 7 10:41:12 2024 at level 45:
To my supervisors and benefactors, I'm pleased to inform that you my
investigation is drawing to a close. I have correctly surmised both the manner
in which the crime occurred and additional witnesses to confidently assure
reporting that the suspect is indeed the perpetrator. Two thieves provided
clarification that Mr. Tzipp was not only living in Galadon, but had risen to
the ranks of its Kingpin. There was some noted griping about Mr. Tzipp having
additional rules about work within the city and chastising certain guild
members for their targets or methods. He was also seen selling Imperial Signet
Rings by the dozens, perhaps shedding some light on the recent reports of
missing Recruiters.

As to the diamond's whereabouts, I have good intelligence provided in the
accompanying documents that the diamond is buried somewhere in the woods near
Dagdon. The search might take some time to complete, but it should begin in
earnest before some other treasure seeker finds it by accident. Mr. Tzipp
himself appears to have given up looking for it and reports indicate he was too
inebriated at the time of burying it to remember its location. I would have
been more pleased to report a more sophisticated criminal mastermind was behind
the heist, but alas it appears we are instead dealing with a mere lucky drunk.

Finally, as to how to locate and capture the criminal, I have been watching his
movements within Galadon where he is all but untouchable and notice he leaves
Galadon unseen to the north, west, and east, likely hiding and sneaking along
the shadows of the civilized roads. But when he travels south, there are no
roads through Silverwood. So I will pen my pursuit as I do my best to follow
from a distance.

He heads to the spidery shop due south
He heads east, Goblin Village?
No, climbed Shadow Peaks
Tough climb on mountain, cold
Monastery? No
Orcish Keep? No
Stops at a bridge
He floats in air?
