Description
A faint aura of radiance rises from the exposed skin
and armor of this tall and slender man. His blond hair
is flecked with several streaks of auburn, nearly
shoulder length, and tied in a braid anchored to the
back of his head with thin, interwoven leather strips.
With his hair back in a braid, it serves to highlight
some high cheek bones and sharp almond eyes that
glow a fait silver hue.
Beyond those striking traits and features, his armor
appears to be a well cared-for amalgam of aged
leathers and dully burnished mithril. Some of the
finely engraved filigree plates and neatly woven chain
mesh almost seem too thin to be all that protective.
Aside from an intricately etched whitesteel belt buckle,
marked with a crane in flight, the only item that stands
out is on his right hand. The glove there appears to
be missing part of the palm and exposing a tattoo of
a crescent-marked quill.
The last few details discernible are.. .

Darylson has been around for millennia, upon
millennia, upon millennia. Its' inhabitants have always
been stalwart allies of the light, defenders of the
goodness of all peoples. The guards forever
receiving training are increasingly more adept at
protecting the people who dwell within the kingdom.
Shopkeepers peddling their wears, guilds offering
training in various areas, and the royalty overseeing
the citizens. Each member of the society finding their
places within the masses.
However, there has been, and always will be those
who strike out from their elven homes for various
reasons. They hold the flickering spark of adventure
within, or at least are beyond the reclusiveness of the
high-elves proper. There are those, a varied lot, who
tend the nearby fields and hills, traveling healers and
minstrels, and those to stand up to the darkness
outside of the vale.
One such family sat out from the elven kingdom in a
hope to better serve posterity and the people. They
were clerks before they departed, trained in math,
prizing knowledge, and dutifully performing their
services for the various merchants within. Several
centuries ago they built their home between the cities
of Voralian, Galadon and Tir-Talath, providing services
to the good within all. On a whole, they were blessed.

It was an early morning on the seventh day of the
tenth month and the cries of an infant rang through
the air. Nearly a hundred and forty years ago, when
their little dawn blessing arrived. They named him
Ubekoz Dawnblessed, their future scholar.
Unlike his parents, Ubekoz was not blessed with the
innate driving force of order within, instead he
preferred to use any method that would meet his task.
Although he excelled in the areas of his parents
livelihoods, he felt that it was not for him. He wanted
more.
Being raised away from the high-elven home of
Darylson, he was not as exposed to their culture as
most others. Because of this, he felt more of the
need to act for the betterment, and even protection of
other goodly people. Although these desires welled
within, his parents were of no aid in nurturing these
aspects. As such, he decided to strike out on his
own, seeking a home in the central city of Galadon
and entering the academy.
Within the academy, there were various guild masters
offering training in the magical arts, martial training,
mystic prayers, each having their own strengths. To
enact the greatest effect, he chose the Paladin's guild
for the mixture of mystic and martial training and the
inherent influence that the divine presence offers. In
this choice, he feels that he has become truly
dedicated.
After graduating the academy, he's been exploring the
lands, lending his strength to ones in need and
searching for divinity.

The days and weeks following his departure from the
academy have been enlightening. His narrow vision
of the lands has further expanded, broadened and
adapted. During his time as a merchant's son, he had
always presumed that he was a worldly man but he
soon had to acknowledge otherwise.
Evil, vile, wickedness was everywhere. It seems to
have permeated many different facets of everyday
life, many towns, and institutions. Because of this, he
sees little option than to band together with others to
act as a bulwark for the downtrodden, those who are
used and abused by the wicked.
In his search for allies, he has come across the
Fortress of light and pledged himself to it as a
potential squire. He's made some progress towards
entry but still hasn't managed to be overly effective at
persecuting the offensive effort. Only time will tell if
the scholar can adapt in this way.
The Study.

Throughout Thera, there are a great many denizens
and adventurers that take it upon themselves to
become the blight against the Light. Anti-Paladins,
Necromancers, Berserkers, and the like are all a part
of these vicious beings that mostly seek to just bring
hate and death to those around them. Many haven't
ever faced them but more have perished at their
hands or before their sorcerous tongues. Hopefully,
that will begin to change.
Having dedicated himself to the study of tactics,
Ubikoz has begun a study. His hope is that the
amalgam that he's able to put together through his
experiences and investigations can help many to be
able to resist the wickedness and corruption from the
dark guilds better than has been possible in the past.
As such, he's released to his patron, Ishuli, a copy of
his basic tactical guide and its followup to counter
Anti-Paladins.
Although he feels that there's much, much more
research needing doing, Ishuli has gifted him with an
avenue to pursue. Lord Panmorne of the Battle
Ragers, is to be sought in order to overlook his
writings and offer further suggestions and possible
improvements. He looks forward to the critique and
remains ever dedicated to his goal of becoming the
bulwark of the light.

Infested with a variety of demons and devils, Loch
Grynmear has been virtually under siege for years.
The order of Calatius that lives at the Temple at the
center stand a constant vigil against the invaders and
are ever looking for ways to push them back. So,
when asked upon his arrival, Ubekoz agreed to help.
He began by searching for the people that had been
reported missing and scouring the surrounding areas
for any telltale signs. He found various clues, a
fishing pole, boat, and even an unrecognizable,
bloated, corpse. However, he began to put more and
more of the clues together, eventually discovering the
underground catacombs. Within, he smote many
different vile beings, each more vicious and deformed
than the last. One of these creatures he thought he'd
killed remained moving outside of the typical quivering
and writhing associated with death. Inside it's
abdomen, bulges and writhing undulations protruded,
leading him to excise that portion of the creature and
to his surprise, out came something of a surprise.
Three rows of jagged pyramidal chitin run long-ways
down a large oval shell. It is an incredibly hard and
dense material, flecked with colors ranging from a
mottled gold to pewter. Tough but flexible leathery
hide protrudes just under the outer shell and is
sandwiched between yet another small bit of smooth
carapace. The limbs that protrude are spiny and
tipped with five long claws each. However, the most
fearsome part is the maw which both large enough to
easily fit a human fist and jaggedly serrated with a
hard bony material. These turtles are known to live in
the small ponds and lochs between the major Theran
cities and the northern mountains. They sit at the
apex of their food chain and are both predatory and
the most determined and ornery variety outside of the
magically enhanced.
This animal had not succumbed easily to the demons
and had seemingly been swallowed while remaining
at complete odds with the foul creature. It thrashed
and snapped, tiny bits of black flesh and ichor leaking
from its chitinous beak. It didn't realize the situation it
was in, nor did it care. It remained dedicated to life, to
the possibility that it'd eventually find its way back to
the waters that it happily called home and it remained
determined to continue to live, even if it had to eat its
way out from inside the bubbly black husk that was
the demon's body. Just thinking of this made Ubekoz
smile. And, as he urged it back through the viscous,
shimmering magical film that separated much of the
catacombs from the water, he admired the fortitude of
the beast and its' primal tenacity.
