Description
Before you is a truly unusual looking orc. Ugly, certainly, but it's armor is
clean and well polished. It's skin lacks any of the usual mud or blood
stains, and most perplexing the orc's hair and body seem to be genuinely
clean, his possessions well cared for, and his demeanor less predatory.
Looking into his small, black eyes you see a cunning, but something...more.
Something deeper than just base animal hunger and desire. His huge body moves
with a certain fluidity and his muscles bulge grotesquely, but he makes no
threatening gestures or snarls, and seems almost to smile at times.
Role
Womb-mates can be a killer!

Uhrungh was a murderer before he was even born. As he and his brother were
being delivered, his brother was found to be dead. Upon closer inspection,
Uhrungh had kicked so violently in his mothers womb, that he broke the neck
of his womb-mate.
Born in blood, his life is death for those around him.

The circumstances of his birth caused great pride in Uhrungh's father, Ununu,
and he knew what must be done with such a special child. Watching as his mate
pricked the flesh of her own nipple, causing a trickle of green blood to flow
and nourishing his strong son with both blood and milk, he started planning
out the road ahead.
Ununu was one of the dreaded Olog-Hai, the elite protectors of the Chieftain.
To be an Olog-Hai was to have slaughtered children and burned entire towns,
to be both a remorseless killer and a masterful tactician, as well as a
powerful fighter. Ununu was all of this and more.
He was smart.
He was no scholar, that is to be certain, but somehow he managed to wield an
intelligence as fierce as his temper and as sharp as his spear. He was so
smart, he knew to keep his mouth shut about just how smart he really was. If
the Chieftain saw his guard as a threat and a rival, he would kill him
without hesitation. Ununu was also smart enough to know that he could never
best the Chieftain. Krunk was young for a Chieftain, and fully in his
physical prime. Ununu was an older veteran of the clan, and while combat
between the two of them would be a long and bloody affair, he knew deep down
that Krunk would be the victor.
In his son however, he saw the future. Being the father of the Chieftain
would be nearly as good as being Chieftain himself, and while his son could
grow more powerful than even Krunk, Ununu knew he could control his son with
the power of fear. He could raise the whelp, to wield him as he might wield a
weapon, and carve himself out a kingdom.
He would teach his son to fight. He would teach him the lessons written in
blood on a parchment of pain, and when the time was right he would unleash
his offspring on the Chieftain and then, the world.
And then he would watch it burn.

The beatings started the day he took his first step. Uhrungh was taking his
first, halting steps. His mother looking on proudly, as Uhrungh was mobile
much sooner than other orcs tended to be, and she was pleased to have borne
such a strong son. Leaping forward with a snarl, Ununu backhanded the whelp,
knocking him flat on his back. He leaned down and began to pummel the infant
orc with open palm slaps, repeatedly causing his head to strike the stone of
the families squalid cave floor.
Screaming, crying, snot running down his face, Uhrungh tried crawling away
from the hail of pain coming down on him. Time after time he tried to escape,
and time after time his slavering father pummeled him into the ground.
Finally, Uhrungh stood, resisting his fathers blows and, with halting
infantile steps he scrambled out of his parents reach. Panting for breath,
Uhrungh's father watched with pride as his son struggled through the pain and
moved to safety. Reaching out, Ununu drew Uhrungh to his chest and held him
close, pride shining in his eyes. This would set the pattern for the next
years of Uhrungh's life.
Daily beatings from his father became the norm. Day after day Uhrungh would
find himself the target of unprovoked beatings from his father. Day after day
the beatings only stopped until Uhrungh had pushed himself beyond the pain,
beyond the fear, and struggled his way to safety. Then and only then would
his father take him aside, far from prying eyes, and embrace him proudly.
This was their relationship. First the pain, and then came the moments that
Uhrungh lived for, the embraces of his father.
As Uhrungh entered his fifth year, he finally found the courage to ask his
father why he beat him, and then held him close. Ununu nodded, and both
squatted down to speak quietly, so as not to be overheard. Ununu explained to
Uhrungh that in pain there was power, and that only by learning to not fear
the pain and by learning to embrace it, could he have true strength. Only by
feeling the agony, could he experience comfort.
Some of the concepts his father tried to explain just didn't make sense to
the young orc whelp. Uhrungh was just a child, and while he may not have
understood the words, he understood the lessons. Eventually, Uhrungh began to
look forward to the beatings, because he longed for the embrace that would
follow.
And so it continued to be.

The cycle of abuse and affection continued for years. Uhrungh looking forward
the painful embraces of his father, his mother looking on silently, proud of
her sons determination and strength.
In the summer of his 10th year, things changed for Uhrungh. By now he was so
massive, he was nearly as large as his father. Also, Ununu had not been a
young orc when he had sired Uhrungh, and he was getting on in years. He was
still a cunning member of the Chieftains guard, but his power had diminished
over the years, and the elder orc was now well past his prime. The blows
from his father no longer caused the young orc pain, and their sessions
stopped being about Uhrungh just taking the abuse from his parent, and began
to be about fighting back.
Tactics, history, all the things usually ignored by the orcs were Uhrungh's
to learn about. And as he grew, learn he did...

On Uhrungh's 15th birthday, his father took him aside quietly. Ununu
explained that he was now going to pass on his deepest, darkest secret, and
that if his son were to ever breathe a word of this to anyone, Ununu would be
killed by the Chieftain instantly, and possibly their whole line as well.
Uhrungh swore his secrecy, and off they went.
First, Ununu went to the lowest tunnels, and killed a rat. Taking this rat he
went to Throg, the village butcher. Holding the freshly killed rat up, Throg
smiled and nodded. "What want"? "Bacon" was Ununu's reply. Handing over the
bacon to Ununu, Throg went about licking the dropping blood from the rat
before hanging it up in his display window.
Following his father, Uhrungh was AMAZED at what he saw. Ununu took the huge
side of bacon, and went from place to place, sometimes other orcish enclaves,
sometimes random encampments filled with races that Uhrungh had never laid
eyes on. In these places he would lop off small hunks of bacon, and people
would give him things. Animal skins, knives, coins, whole dead rabbits. All
for a single simple chunk of nothing more than bacon. Uhrungh was MOST
puzzled.
The most shocking was yet to come. Ununu trilled out a whistle while in a
deep forest path, and out of the underbrush stepped a wood elf, of all
things! Some haggling ensued, which involved some mild threats from Ununu,
but eventually an agreement was reached, and a side of venison, much prized
back in the orcish village, was handed over to Ununu for the remainder of his
bacon.
Returning to the clan, Uhrungh realized they had been gone but perhaps four
hours at most. Waving the side of venison around and hooting loudly, Ununu
announced to the clan that he had brought home a whole side of venison. Orcs
began clamboring over each other, offering their most prized posessions,
everything they had, for the smallest chunk of venison. Mighty Krunk came
forward and glowered down at the smaller, older orc. "Good thing brought nuff
for Chief! HA!" he said as he took the entire remaining piece. Going back to
their warren, Ununu began to lay out his days haul.
Shiny baubles he presented to his mate, which she squealed as she began to
try them on. New weapons he passed around for himself and Uhrungh, much
superior to the rusted and broken weapons of their clan. Furs, strips of
leather, whole rabbits, these were stored, stashed or in the case of the
rabbits hung above the fire to smoke. Finally the coins were placed in a
hidden crevice of the back of the warren.
Sitting back, smugly packing some dark substance into a tubular piece of what
appeared to be bone, Ununu held a flame to the end and smoke began to come
from it. "You memebers whelp, works smarts, not hard. Someone always gots too
much of one shits, an not near enough of anothers. You finds out what it
be's, an you can get lotsa shit from both sides of make what called "trade".

He then leaned back and took a long drag from his pipe. Looking his son in
the eyes he said "Now we learn bouts make trade, and make you future. Future
of us family. Future of clan. Whole clan. Me teach you son bout most portant
thing. Profits".
Looking at now, not then.

Uhrungh felt the loss of his friends deeply. The orc Chieftain was lost and
directionless, not used to feeling these emotions. The gain of love in his
heart had also introduced pain, sorrow and longing into his life. He was used
to coveting things that others had, but true longing was new to him, and more
than he could bear.
Laying his massive axes down, the mighty Chieftain wandered off into the
wilds, not abandoning his clan, but not feeling as if he was in any condition
to be making decisions for the well being of His clan. He would leave it to
those who were more focused. His work would continue, but first he needed to
learn to assimilate these new emotions into who he was, and what he wanted to
do with the rest of his life.
