Description

Uial is a mysterious looking elven woman. Her alluring smile is both genuine and mischievous at the same time. There is a youthful innocence in her expressions, but the hint of wisdom from long years glistens in her dark sapphire eyes like a star filled sky. Her blue-black hair tangles and flows beautifully, like wild vines, though you suspect she goes to great lengths to keep up this appearance. The lustrous shimmer of her complexion tells that she's creamy soft. When she moves, her figure pulses like a vivacious, spry vixen and she traveres the lands with a vibrant grace. Uial doesn't wear much beneath her armors except for silk blue wraps across her private areas.

Role

Orphaned and Emancipated

Added Thu Jan 14 00:38:36 2010 at level 1:
**Snikt** Uial woke up from the familiar dream. The sound of a dagger's
cross-guard slapping against soft elven flesh as it's blade effortlessly
pierced their bodies. Their sorrow drenched eyes pleading to her, "I'm
sorry." It was Uial's first memory, she had always correctly assumed it
was of her parents, but she had never guessed the orphanage in which she
now resided was responsible for their deaths. She rubbed the back of her
neck and looked around at the cold, hard eyes of the other children.
Called the Second Chance Center, it was populated by the orphaned
children of thieves, assassins, bandits, all sorts of unsavory characters
who gambled with death. Why they took Uial in was a bit of a mystery,
she didn't belong there, she never did. This particular morning would be
the start of her second chance.

The so called monks who ran the orphanage lead a boy in, his meager
possessions hanging from his shoulder. He was much older than most of the
kids who were brought here. The monks didn't like the children to have
much of a basis of life experience to compare with their new lives. The
boy looked around at the bruised wrists of the children, his eyes did not
betray any fear or anger. His gaze settled on Uial, the beds on either
side of her were taken, but his eyes didn't leave her as he placed his
things on a bed across the room. He looked to be about ten years old. His
name was Kenzuke, the other children quickly learned to despise him,
jealous of his skills in the training sessions. Uial gathered this info
at supper time, she was never allowed to view the sessions, restricted
to basic weapons training. The head trainer said her spirit wasn't ready.
Five years passed and Kenzuke's human form quickly caught up to Uial's
slow aging body. He was still the star pupil of the Center, the monks
were very pleased with him. He and Uial had become close friends, her
only friend at the orphanage. Soon his bed would be empty and they would
explain that he was now on "assignment." These thoughts troubled her as
she walked to the well to fetch some water for the cooks. Kenzuke was
walking towards her from the opposite direction, it was very rare that
the children ever found themselves unaccompanied, Uial couldn't help but
smile at his approach. She nearly yelped when he quickly grabbed her by
the wrist and started running. "We're leaving, now!"

Orphaned and Emancipated (cont.)

Added Thu Jan 14 00:47:16 2010 at level 1:
Uial, now being carried by Kenzuke, had received the first wound. The
head trainer of the Center had caught her in the arm with a thrown blade,
coated with some powerful poison. She couldn't stand without becoming
violently nauseous, nor could she sleep or even keep water down. These
were no monks. Kenzuke somehow put some distance between themselves and
their pursuers. He tended to the poor elf, force feeding her water, she
threw it back up quickly. The sound of crackling leaves turned his head,
the head trainer approached slowly, cautious of the young man. Kenzuke placed
Uial on the ground and stood to meet his foe, the battle was brief. Kenzuke
had chose to sacrifice himself. He threw his body into the trainer's
blade, in turn stabbing his foe with the his momentum. Uial stared in
disbelief, but a life of uncomfortable caution took hold of her. She
pulled herself to her feet and stumbled across a great plain. As she was
feeling herself about to faint, a concerned voice called out. Uial felt
as though Thera were spinning around her as she collapsed.

Uial came to in a home of a young elven healer, he was about her age.
The orphan felt uncomfortable as the healer questioned her, but his
genuine good nature and selfless actions quickly won her over. He was
shocked by her story. The healer offered to let her stay in his home until he
left for the academy. The next few years were foreign but welcome to Uial.
She and the healer and become fast friends, not only that, but she had become
friends with all of his friends as well. They were all talented individuals,
one was a bard, another a thief, as well as a rather arrogant transmuter.
Having lived around the truly malicious, even the transmuter seemed like a
saint to her. One night as she finally felt completely safe, waves of sorrow
washed over her. She cried for Kenzuke, feeling almost guilty. The next day,
all of her friends were bustling about leaving for the academy. She had been
dreading the day she would have to leave the healer's home, but those feelings
had faded. Perhaps it was inspiration from Kenzuke, but suddenly Uial wanted to
outshine her friends. They all traveled together, but split soon after
reaching the Theran academy. Uial applied to the warrior's guild and was
accepted. A fire giant cursed at the frustration of a parry excercize,
Uial smirked and wondered if this was how Kenzuke felt excelling in the
Second Chance Center's training sessions.

Mirror's Grace

Added Tue Feb 2 20:25:04 2010 at level 31:
Uial spun on her left boot and instinctively drew both her swords. Laughing
to herself she returned them to their sheaths and took off her belt, tossing
it to the side of a gentle stream. Looking at her reflection, she casually
brushed her hair with her hand. Regaining focus, Uial continued to practice
pirouetting, combining what little dance moves she knew with her elven grace
and swordswoman training. "I can be a great dancer, probably the best in all
of Thera," she thought to herself. Her recent interest in dancing was the
result of meeting an assassin named Patakie. Patakie was trying to become a
Herald, something Uial had already considered herself. She wanted to show off,
outshine, and inspire others to attempt the same. She thought she could make
a great soldier of the Brigade, her mind had even flirted with the idea of
becoming a Battlerager, the so called greatest warriors in the land. "If they
were so great, surely they'd eager invite me to join," Uial thought as she
buckled her belt back around her waist. However, she couldn't bear the thought
of a life lived paying such close attention to other people and what they were
doing. She glanced at her reflection one more time and brushed her hair. Boys
had been giving her a lot of gifts lately, Tanic's dress blade held the nicest
edge of any sword she'd previously gripped, beautiful rings caressed her fingers,
and the headdress of Galadriel sat atop her head. She'd feel guilty about
adorning herself with such items she didn't aquire herself, if she didn't feel
worthy of it. She knew her looks had something to do with it, but she also
beamed with the thought they were so thoroughly entranced with her company that
they thought of her whilst adventuring, gladly handing over any extra artifacts
they had come across. "I am inspiring, I'll make a great Herald!.. and beautiful
too. Mirror's grace, I am. I'm so beautiful I should be a priestess of Rayihn..
I *should* be a priestess of Rayihn!"

Eternal Pride

Added Mon Mar 8 00:56:48 2010 at level 50:
Gazing into the mirror, backstage of the Stage of Spirits, Uial smiled. She
spent a lot of time looking into that mirror, thinking. She wanted to shine
and had quickly become a renowned performer with the Heralds. Everyone
seemed to love her, her one critic had quickly changed his mind about her.
She couldn't stop gushing to herself, many who saw her music show claimed it
to be far superior to anything they'd heard even from the bard's guild. "Who
needs classical training when you've got natural talent and enthusiasm?" she
thought. The Second Chance Center was so far behind her now, no matter what
they had planned for her there seemed insignificant next to her blossoming
fame. She still sought the Purple Lotus, but she was confident she had
everything she needed to accomplish anything she wanted. Nothing had stopped
her so far. One thing nagged at her mind, her name. While she loved the
name, Uial, she would meet people with long flowing names. As a younger elf,
she took pride in her short, sweet name, but now she wanted to be known as
something with a bit more flair. She had taken to introducing herself as
Uial, the eternal star herself, but everyone smirked and laughed at the
introduction, some even mistook her for the owner of the Inn. Uial entered
the Lyceum, picking up an Elvish dictionary to find a suitable surname for
herself, then she froze. Her name was in the dictionary. Uial - twilight.
She couldn't believe it, they said that the founder of the Second Chance
Center had named her himself. She smirked, "I guess he fancied himself a
cultured man," at least one good thing had come from that place. She
continued through the pages. Star - el, elen. There was a footnote, the
Elvish word for behold, ele, was a derivative of the word star. "Ele..
I like that, behold.. behold.. what?" She continued to read. Nothing caught
her eye. "How do you say.. eternal?" It wasn't there. She scoured the library
for more texts. She found it in a small, untitled book. "Oira.. Oira'ele,
elegant yet fierce. Uial Oira'ele.. perfect!" Such a beautiful, elegant, and
fierce name suited her, she thought.

Proudly Pouting

Added Sun Mar 21 21:57:49 2010 at level 51:
Uial hung her head in shame for the first time in her life. Looking
down into a bottle of Elven blackberry wine, she could barely look
at the faces of the others drinking with her at the bar. She was
completely and utterly defeated in the Tournament of Champions, her
stubborn pride made her cling to the few moments of the contest
which favored her, but the truth was that the three winners had all
defeated her. Uial's mind scrambled, she couldn't deny that she had
desired to win and tried her best. This was her first major failure
in life, and she couldn't bring herself to admit she was unexperienced
in the ways of battle. She wasn't a soldier, but she couldn't bear
the thought of thinking herself weaker than anyone. She could only
think bitter thoughts, "I'm better than them! How could this have
happened?" Taking another drink of her wine, Uial looked up at Kirrus,
a strange druid and friend who was trying to encourage her out of her
funk. "Thera always needs you, a voice to inspire them, a friend to
comfort them," he said. Uial took another drink of her wine. He's
right, I can't be seen like this. I'm still better than them.

Sensational Sway

Added Mon May 17 17:29:50 2010 at level 51:
Uial couldn't stop smiling, her face felt sore from it. The crowd had departed
from the Inn, but the energy from the party was still lingering. It was an
impromptu event, she sent out invitations on a whim and more than a few people
showed up. She sang songs and danced, stopping between each performance to let
her Heralds take the stage as well. Harlus put on his firebreathing show, Nyanya
sang songs about fear and the sea, Lasentia led the party in a turn by turn
story telling, and Magthyra intoxicated people with her exotic company. The
crowd lingered and lingered, their attention caught by the Heralds. Sitting at
the bar with Harlus after the show, Uial couldn't stop herself from gushing.
Pride welling up inside her, she began to feel somthing to which she could not
relate. Pride in others. She was so proud of her Heralds. "Their accomplishments
reflect on me," she thought vainly to herself. "Success has always suited me,
it's only natural that leadership would too." Despite her vanity, Uial was
impressed by them all. Feelings of competition faded and love replaced them.

The seasons of Thera have always turned, bright with hope or darkened with
despair. Under the iron hand of order or wild, unstable times. Uial wondered how
she could shape the seasons, her experience as a Herald assured her it was
possible. She beamed with confidence that she could leave Thera a better place.
Her new responsibilities, public and taciturn, only seemed to aid her in this
endeavor.

The Return and Coronation of Uial Oira'ele

Added Wed Sep 1 17:38:38 2010 at level 51:
"Careful with her!" barked the head master of the Second Chance Center, "She's our last chance at
redemption." The Second Chance Center had never recovered from losing it's star students. As they
scrambled to provide Thera with quality assassins, the Maran descended upon their training outpost. Most
of the assassins there were disposed of without pause or pity. The Maran had no idea the assassins in
training were actually orphans pressed into service by the malicious ring leaders of the Center. They had
bent to the will of the Second Chance Center and were destroyed accordingly. Only a few top members had
survived. Capturing Uial had proven easier than anticipated, though she had grown skilled with her
swordfighting, she ultimately proved to be vain and over-confident and left herself wide open for a surprise
attack. Utilizing a mixture of mind altering fungi found in the underdark, they had subdued the Elf and kept
her in a constant state of confusion. Keeping her captive proved to be another story. Her spirit pressed on.
As they crafted encounters for her to test her newly aquired fighting skills, she eventually broke away. The
head master sent a few assassins to bring her back, but they did not return. Uial had changed much since
the days of her first escape. Never the less, she was confused and lost. Uial didn't remember anything of the
time she spent under their potent mind erasing concoction. She wandered the lands aimlessly until her head
started to clear. Slowly she remembered details of her life before. Uial returned to the Inn of the Eternal Star
to find it mostly emptied. Her old friends had welcomed her back with open arms, thrilled to see her return,
but her fiance, Charlee, was no where to be found. She learned that many of her old friends had fallen in her
absence, and a few suggested that Charlee too had succumb to old age. But hope lingered as she heard
stories of him from patrons she'd never met before. Finally, she heard a recent exploit of his, not only that,
but that Charlee had heard of her return and desperately wanted to see her. One day, she received word that
Charlee was at the Inn, she ran to him and nearly burst into tears as he wrapped his arms around her. The
two wed in Seantryn Modan that very day. Infront of a large gathering of adventurers, they exchanged
vows. Charlee called to his citizens to gaze upon their new princess. As Uial regarded their faces, she saw
the despair in the eyes of the girls, peering out the door ways of their brothels. Desperate, but yearning. She
imagined they wanted to be like her, a thing of beauty, one that did not bend to the will of others. One not at
the beckon call of awful lusty men. Where there was desire for change, there was hope. She thought back
her days as an orphan, forced into training. She thought back on her life, gaining the attention and applause

of adventurers, great leaders, and even Gods and Goddesses. She wondered now what her life as princess
might be like, though she knew Charlee's mother would never relinquish the throne, Uial was certain her new
title was not useless. That she could use it to inspire the unfortunate. She had once been in their shoes.
"From orphan to princess, it sounds like a fairy tale," Uial exclaimed. As she left the city and prepared to
return to the mainland, Uial promised herself that she could revitalize the Inn *and* bring hope to the
people of Seantryn Modan. But how to do so, without seeming to undermine the authority of the Empress?
