Description
A scraggly, bearded human stands before you. His armor and weapons
speak of a watery profession. A bow is strapped across its back and
a large, sharp spear is visible at his side at all times. His eyes
are blackish and white at the same time. They are speckled with both
hues in a field of pure black. The hair on his head is also a tangled
massive of brackish and obsidian colored hair. It holds a serious
friz to it, as if it has been exposed to sea air. Underneath the
clothing and armor is an extremely well muscled and tan flesh, but
judging by the serious number of scars, it has been through more
than normal wear and tear for a human.
Role
The Maps, the Stories, the Monsters

Ulitius was born to a "rustic" fishing tribal village on the outreaches
of the small city of Arkham. There he had an idealistic life, or at least
the most idealistic life one can lead in a barbaric village ran by brutes
steeped in supersition. There he learned the understandings of the water
and how to use various fishing techniques as he grew up. There he also
learned about Monsters.
Every map created in this village showed all the best fishing spots, and
all the rocks to avoid with their ships, as well as at the outskirts,
drawings of Monsters from every story of every sailor ever in the history
of the village. Many have ran into fire breathing, two headed Monsters,
or giant electric eel Monsters the size of small ships. To the flesh
melted Monsters who drag disease and plague where they go.
Each illustration on every map came with a story. And those stories were
told to every child over and over, imprinting them with the fear, the
horror, the wonderous and gripping details of the experiences from all
the previous generations.
These stories are all true, but what they are is not really what they
are. They are magicians of all different kinds, bending magic to their
will in so many ways. This supersitious and fearful group of barbaric
wayfayers see them as Monsters, and they certainly are. So every child
man, woman, and being from this place know the stories and believe them
wholeheartedly. Because why not, as they are true.
The Hunters of Monsters - Battleragers

Also part of the myths and legends of these barbaric ocean people are
the rumors and true stories of some of their own taking up arms against
these Monsters. They once resided to the north of Arkham in their own
barbaric village. There they fought horrible regenerating and sanctuaried
Monsters that seemed endlessly healthy (they called them Hydra Monsters).
To strange element breathing Monsters that spit poison, plague, and
blindness within its fiery breath.
So powerful are the stories that they created within Ulitius an
overwhelming purpose. To join to become one of the Hunters. To face
the Monsters of the Maps. To cross them off the maps to make the land
the water, and the whole Thera safer from these mystical and magical
Monsters.
So Ulitius gathers together what he knows how to do (fish and net on
the waters) and only a rudementary understanding of the lands and onward
he goes on the divine quest to eliminate the Monsters from the land.
With only the tools of his rangeristic and barbaric mariner profession,
it is time to Hunt and bring glory to his people and safety to all of
Thera.
Worship of Nalasul - Lady of the Net and Trap

This barbaric tribe of the waters finds solice in worshipping the harsh
mistress named Nalasul. It has been a being they have worshipped for
centuries, as this nomadic, barbarian mariner tribe survived not by
farming, not by raising animals in a pen, but through the quiet and
stealthy hunting and ambushing of large watery creatures for their flesh
and food.
They called her Lady of the Net and Trap, as they worshipped her and her
ability to deceive the prey, with trinket and net and cohersion. They
practiced the art of slowly corralling creatures to a place where they
are ambushed or trapped and killed. And each tripped trap that was
successful was due to her teachings. Sometimes they even uesd their
own flesh as bait for some of the largest creatures, sacrificing blood
to lure in the prey with such deception they could not resist.
Ulitius is no different and worships her and pays hommage to her when
his trappings bring fruitful prey. He is not a Hunter like others in
that he faces the creatures head on, but embraces the hide, trick, and
deceive. Then once the trap is sprung to fight with such bloodthirsty
ferocity and lack of abandon that it shocks and kills the prey.
Ulitius continues to pray to the Lady of the Net and Trap and seeks
her painful lessons however she provides. As a barbarian of the watery
paths and fjords, he is used to pain, danger, and treachery.
Find the Lady - Finding the Path

Ulitius quested out to find the Lady. He searched the lands with the
vague hints spoken quietly by his kin and by the inns and bars of the
land. He finally found a secret path that led off of the inlet of water
near Arkham. He entered and humbled himself within the shrine and
prayed to the Greatest Lady. Without so much as a moment, the Lady
herself appeared!
Ulitius paid hommage but something was wrong. She seemed entertained
but also annoyed. The conversation turned to one of her minions within
the shrine. She asked if this one was a Monster. Ulitius said, "I am
unsure." and within that moment the Lady instantly killed her own
follower!
Horrified, Ulitius thought he had invoked her wrath and sought both
the pain of her teachings and to avoid the brunt of it. Blue lightning
seared Ulitius's body causing unimaginable pain. Confused but still
dedicated, he stayed in front of Her, kneeling to the ground.
The Lady then said, "This is not my shrine, find my shrine and we
shall talk more."
And with that She was gone. Leaving Ulitius in a dead god's shrine
next to the seared and smoking corpse of a dead god's follower.
Ulitius's first act in front of his Lady was not of Wisdom but
of foolishness.
Finding a Hut within the Hunters

Ulitius stood with triumph over the corpse of yet another Monster. A
massive skyflash laid before him on the Sea of Despair. Its body covered
in an entangling net full of sharp hooks and weights. Long, deep
lashes crossed its flesh where his serpent strikes tore into its
flesh. Then a voice came from the shadows, "Come let us continue our
talk.".
It was the Commander, asking to speak again since last time the felar
randomly walked off in confusion.
The meeting was brief, as the felar already knew of the seven Monsters
Ulitius has already hunted down. His value was shown just through
action, and quickly he gained his hut as the bloodthirsting, furious
Hunter he wanted to be.
Shortly after, the Commander quested out to fight the Monster and
Monster slaves, and was summarily murdered by them and it whimpered
into its hut to hide. What a pathetic Hunter.
The Second Meeting - In the Right Place This Time

Ulitius did finally find the Lady's shrine and within it sought her
attentions again. She came quickly this time as well, but seemingly
in a much more inquisitive mood.
There within the Shrine she asked questions of what Ulitius saw and
what path he finds to be his. Ulitius was confused, as he thought
She was a divine being of wrath and destruction, and one that was
fickle and capricious at best. BUt Ulitius found her overwhelmingly
wise and contemplative in Her words and questions.
Ulitius was just a brigand, a fisherman, and a pillager Hunter. He
was sorely not prepared for such an engagement. He fumbled his words
and made blatant observations. He expected any moment destruction
from Her, but instead she saw something in him and with a firmness
never seen in Ulitius life, guided him through and onto some kind
of path. A Path Ulitius didn't even truly know he was walking onto
so divine were Her words and power.
The Lady Nalasul left Ulitius with a set of tasks.
One, walk through her shrine and examine everything possible, as the
power of observation is important to the path She puts him on.
Two, while bathed in the cold blood of a Monster, contemplate the
on the relationship, and the interaction of reality and perception.
Three, find the Path of Wisdom and begin to walk it.
Ulitius was left dumbfounded by the interaction. She dismissed him
and he walked off wild eyed. As if both a quiet realization of
his own foolishness (again) mixed with a wonderment of a new
and glorious path opening up for him.
