Description

x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x-x There is a strange smell which pervades the air around this curious figure, a vague mixture of cloves with an undertone of the sickly sweet scent of decay. Her figure is tall, her movements seem to flow from a force of her will, rather than the workings of muscle and sinew. For as you peer closer you see this being is not formed of living flesh, but of the desiccated and embalmed sinew of the undead. Once, perhaps, she may have held a form of beauty and elegance, but now what remains are features of darkness and nightmares. Wisps of once delicate silver hair, now hang lifeless from the remains of her scalp. The preserved skin is drawn over a taught jawline, her long white teeth clenched together can be viewed from root to tip as they protrude from the bone. Within deep, sunken eye sockets glow violet malevolent orb which see the world through the veil of illusions. Her body is swathed in tattered bandages which can be seen beneath the odd pieces of armors she wears, here and there the cavity of her body is open, left bereft of the organs which once gave her mortal form life. Scurrying between her open ribs you see several scarab beetles quite at home within their dark mistress. Soft black robes enfold her undead frame, cinched with a silver braided cord and a belt with a sheathed longsword of fine craftsmanship. Hung from the cincture are pouches of arcane paraphernalia, some general and others you notice are specific to the craft of necromancy. Her bony fingers are adorned by some simply rings and appear to take inventory of her arcane supplies, more of their own volition than any conscious thought of hers. Around her neck on a simple leather cord is a strange stone, which pulses with an inner darkness, causing the air around it to ripple and bend as though space itself was shifting. Though you try to discern more all you see is that.........

Everlasting Silence

Moons have swollen to full bellies and wasted away, times more than she can count.
An age has come and gone, something she herself brought about, both by unraveling the 
remaining cryptic clue of the Sultan's puzzle, and by defeating the guardian of the horn itself.
Allowing the voice to sound the note, which heralded coming of a new darkness.
Profane, she had destroyed, saw their numbers rise and fall and rise once more.
Legions of the Imperial troops, trampled into dust. All in a blink of her undead eye.
Time and time again the profane, their numbers bolstered by the wildling outlanders came upon
her, and time and again she faced them unflinching. Sometimes victorious, sometimes not, the not
though, has begun to exact a heavy told on her undead form. As best she could
she has bolstered her waning constitution, holding out her remaining strength to face of the
ravages of time, but it has not been enough, and soon, despite her best efforts, the body may fail her.
The silence of the darkness, everlasting, not a whisper from the Father of Devils.
Neither acknowledgement, praise or criticism for all her years of faith in his Unholy Name. 
Without the strength of the body, her service to Him and the Temple will come to an untimely end.
Time she knew would take her eventually, but to feel her strength drain like the sands of 
of an hourglass, rankles her ire. An ignominious end, was not what she had in mind.

The House Mal'Akith Verth

In the city of Teth Azaleth the game of politics and intrigue was as much a
part of every day life, and often times death, as deciding on what one would
wear for the day. Houses aligned and realigned their allegiances, jockeyed
for favor from the ruling House, betrayed, undermined and oft times murdered.
As a result the city and the Underdark are rife with secret tunnels and
passageways, both for egress from a dangerous situation and ingress for
malicious activity. It was through one of these, long forgotten passageways
that Undaraxyl's life forever changed.

The House Mal'Akith Verth was neither lofty nor downtrodden, but had played
their politics well over the years, some with more success than others. The
current Matron had some influence in the city and the house had enough wealth
and resources to live comfortably. However, the ladder of Drow society has
many rungs and there was always someone looking to either climb up, or
looking down to see who may wish to replace them. This was the reason for the
attack in the night.

A Night of Death

It came suddenly and without warning. The whole House of Mal'Akith Verth
would have been slaughtered if not for Undaraxyl's late night kitchen
foraging. She had awoke around midnight, her stomach bemoaning a lack of
sustenance, and had walked through the deserted halls towards the kitchens.
The candles had been snuffed for the night and only the nebulous glow from
the magical orbs her mother had created shed any light. Not that she needed
them, her eyes were as keen as a cavefisher, even picking out the lifeglow of
the guards in the foyer as she headed down the back stairs. On entering the
darkened kitchen she pulled over a three-legged stool, and used it to climb
up to the pantry cabinet, it was here she knew the cook kept the candied
sweetmeats, the quarry of her hunt. No sooner had she opened the jar to revel
in her prize when a dull 'click' filled the room. She froze, there would be a
whipping if she was caught in petty theft, or at best a stern rebuking from
the cook if it was she who discovered her, but when she glanced around there
was not guard, cook nor mother in sight. Instead she could see the lifeglow
of someone rising up from the floor, like a spectre from a tomb. Then
another, and another, three in total entered from below the ground and
heading straight for the stairs, not a one looking back to see her frozen
like a statuette on the counter-top. On silent feet they moved into the
house, and with agonizing clarity Undaraxyl heard the gurgles of the house
guards, in her mind's eye she imagined the slash of the blade which opened
their throats. She knew only too well what was afoot, she had been warned
about such nocturnal 'political' activities, but the plan was always to leave
by the secret door behind her mirror, which lead to the school her uncle, the
archmage. However that was no longer an option of flight. She stared at the
black square of darkness in the floor, what lay beyond she did not know, but
what lay within the walls of her house was certain, and she did not relish
that option.

Flight into Darkness

Grabbing a handful of sweetmeat she sprung from her perch and
disappeared into the tunnel below, survival her only thought. Three stone
steps took her down into the tunnel and from above came the sound of alarms,
the intruders had been discovered. Whether they would be slain or repelled
was unknown, if slain she could return when things were safe, if repelled
then this passage may soon be a very dangerous place. With this in mind, she
broke out into a run. Within a few yard the tunnel branched and without pause
she chose a random direction, and again, and again. Sometimes a simple fork
and several times a nexus of paths, she did not know what drove her choices,
she simple continued to run, never noticing that each choice took her down
into the darkest recesses of the Underdark.

Her legs ached, her lungs burned, the walls which had felt to close on either
side, suddenly gave way to a feeling of dark expanse and she dropped to her
knees, gasping the damp air. Alone in the darkness, with only the hammering
drumbeat of her heart pounding in her ears, around her the deepest void into
which even her keen eyes could discern nothing. But, as her ragged breathing
and her racing heart begins to still, and as her eyes became ever more
accustomed to the blackness, she began to notice nuances, which until now
she, and perhaps few others, had ever seen. Around her the faintest of
bioluminescence could be seen, lichens and creatures of utter darkness. It
climbed the walls and rose to a dome above her, yet it all seemed to move in
a slow spiral, fading as its tendrils circled to the center of the cavern.
There seemed to be a hole in the darkest of shadows, something beyond the
absence of light that surrounded it. As if it itself was swallowing all
around it, sucking it down into to a place not of the world in which she
knelt. Fascinated she moved closer and she could begin to feel it tugging at
her very being. The air around it wavered and rippled as though a pebble had
been thrown into an atramentous well. Gingerly she reached out a trembling
hand and as her fingers closed around a cold, smooth object, her soul lurched
with negative energy. Visions swam in her mind of legions of the undead,
populating a world of the darkest shadows, vast plains and massive city of
bone rose up into a sky, filled creatures of shadow and death. She screams,
not in terror, not in pain, but in the clutch of ecstasy, and the blackness
consumes the last of her consciousness.

Apprentice to the Dark

How many hours or days passed, she could not tell, if time even passed at
all. She walked in a strange place of shadows, noise seemed distorted, shapes
indistinct. She sense other presences, but could never see what she felt
watched her with curious, hungry eyes, watching her, and what she still
clenched in her hand. Then, slowly becoming more distinct, she saw a portal
of light, stumbling towards it she pitches forward and her body lurches once
more before landing face first in a patch of dead, cold earth. Blinking her
eyes clear, her vision clears, around her are numerous tombstones and torches
spaced along a narrow path which weaves between them. Her nose is filled with
the scent of the dead, and the occasional moan of something not quite dead.
The sky above her is resplendent with twinkling points of light and sliver of
crescent luminesce.  She hears a gruff voice not far warning someone of the
dangers of being in the graveyard at night, how did she come to be here?
Where was here? She moves cautiously towards the voice to find a group of
humans standing watch over some iron gates. The older man eyes her warily.
'One of those necromancer lot eh? Well don't be causing your mischief here!!'
He points south to the gates, 'go on. GIT!' Without thinking she moves
through the gates into the bustling streets of Galadon.

It did not take Undaraxyl long to find the Necromancers guild and after a
conversation with the dark being she found there, apprenticed herself to his
craft. Though she did not share with him how she had come to be there, or the
nature of the stone in her possession.

Revelations

She has found enlightenment through her visions and realized the truth of her
old existence: she was nothing more than a pawn for the Matron, to be moved
and sacrificed for the House's ends. Their slaughter and her freedom to
become her true self drives her to her goals. She has read the works of the
Sacraa and talked in depth with the Flame and Voice. She knows that only they
understand true darkness, and that they have a oneness with the beings who
she glimpsed in her visions through the stone, which she now keeps over her
heart. She feels it pulse with darkness when her acts further her will
towards the truth of the world.


Traits:
Distrust of any she cannot control and manipulate to her ends.
Self-reliance and a streak of stubborn independance.
She is determined to perfect her craft, no matter the cost.


Goals: 
Join the Cult.
Delve into the knowledge of the Nightwalkers and
deepen their pact, all this to gain audience with those who have created the
well she found in Seantryn Modan and learn its workings.
She will seek knowledge of the becoming and how a success will bring the Cult's goals to
fruition.
Learn of the Father and explore his teachings.

The Mad Cleric

Long have been her journeys in the service of The Father and Darkness, and many
the tolls on her aged flesh. Into each nook and cranny of every crypt has she searched, looking
seeking someway to give more strength to her mummified flesh. The Conservator seems to have done all
he could, her attempt to engage him into dialogue about any extension of the work
he had wrought, had been fruitless.
Both Venara and Malchazzar, in the years before their accession to The Father's side, had 
spoken of a ritual, long since lost. She had sought The Father's wisdom, but head only silence in the
darkness, nary a whisper. So, resolved not to go silently into the dark, she 
has decided to approach the Mad Cleric who resides in Eil Shaeria's old church.
Perhaps, if his mind not too far gone, and if his distaste at her lessor form of unlife
did not dissuade him, a bargain could be struck. Though she cannot fathom, what price he may ask.

A Gift Beyond Measure

For many moons she had roamed, bring darkness, fear and death
to those too blind to understand the gift she bestowed on them, but
those years, and the trials she had faced took their toll. The shell which
carried the dark well of her soul, grew weak, and true Death taunted her
with its final gambits.
It was then that the Ancient Lich Coprophagous interceded and in the darkest part
of the darkest of nights, revealed to her ancient lore, long forgotten in the realm.
She muttered the incantation over and over, committing it to memory, and with each chant
her ravenous hunger grew. As always, driven by her desires, she began to feed.
Each succulent corpse, brought little satiety to her desires, but little by little
virility returned to her corpse-shell, fighting back Death to a stalemate......for now.
