Description

A short figure stands here quietly, watching the area carefully. He appears to be no more than five feet in height and very slight of build, which only adds to his dimunitive appearance. His clothing is dark and plain and leaves only his hands and face uncovered, revealing light brown skin and slightly tilted dark eyes. A pair of matching leather-wrapped dagger hilts are visible in sheaths hanging on either side of his belt. A large dark cloak is clasped around his neck with a small silver pin in the shape of an open hand with a dagger resting on the palm. The cloak is plain, though it appears to be of high quality, and the hem is dirty and worn from dragging in the dirt behind the man. His dark eyes pass over you once more as he scans his surroundings, before he pulls the cloak around his body and disappears silently.

The blessings (and curses) of Lady Luck

*Scribbled in a small, leather bound journal*

Ah Luck, such a fickle Mistress, yet one I could not live without.  The flip
of a coin, a game of cards, the fate meeting between hunter and prey, all
give homage to the Lady of Luck.  As late, she has shined bright upon me and
left me in her debt by granting me many chance meetings with Magi of all
sorts... and said Magi have left me their skulls for the Skull Throne!
However, woe to me the day that she collects, for the day my Luck turns sour
is not something I look forward to!

Already I have nightmares of such a day.  My daggers snapping as I attempt to
slice open the guts of my foe, catching on their belt buckle...Traveling
the lands for days on ends, with no sight of prey... Even worse, the hunter
becoming the prey at the hands of my enemies.  Hopefully the Lady Luck does
not collect too soon on my debt, for I do so enjoy her blessings.  However,
even if she does, I know that like the flip of a coin, Luck will return again
should I weather the storm.

As it is, I shall keep on as I am.  Dagger in hand, dressed in blood drenched
armor, with a whistle on my lips as I stalk the lands for prey.If only the
Lady Luck were a True God, I would sacrifice many a child to her altar,
shower her temples in treasure and prostrate myself in prayer.  Instead, I
will enjoy her blessings as I have them and try not to think about the day my
Luck should turn.  One cannot win every coin toss, however I intend to keep
winning as many games as I can!

Lady Luck shines upon me

Once again I have found myself thanking the Lady Luck for her blessings.  The
day started as any other, a fierce Lich striking our Village with his lackeys
and me battling with their Vanquisher to take back what belongs to us.
Things went well and the one Imperial that stood in my way fell quickly
before my whirling scepter.  However, once the bloodied head was back under
the guard of the Destructor, things got a bit dicey.

I had spotted an Imperial Assassin making his way from Galadon towards
Darsylon, so I pursued.He was quick, but not quick enough to evade me for
long.  Once I did catch him, he engaged and the battle began.  Lady Luck
shined on me, for I was able to slice open his guts and my dagger poisoned
him, causing him to lose the strength to wield his blade.  From there, a
simple kick of his legs finished the battle with barely a scratch upon me.
That was just the beginning of my fight though.

Out of nowhere, a beast of mythical proportions swept from the skies reeking
of carrion.  The vulture blurred before my eyes, turning into the form of a
mage who immediately ringed me in an outline of pink.  How I detest such
magic!  I knew myself outmatched, for without surprise and stealth on my
side, the battle would not go well.  As such, I immediately sprinted as fast
as I could.  Thinking quickly, I headed first towards the body of water near
the Azreth Forest, only to realize I had no seaweed to allow me to venture
under the waves  As I ran, the pecking of the vulture continued, whittling
away at my health.  With little choice left before me, I sprinted on towards
the safety of the village.

Lady Luck smiled upon me, for the pecking of the beast only rendered my sight
useless once and my swift feet carried me quickly.  Even so, I was barely
breathing with a head light from so much blood loss when I passed by the
stalwart guardian of the Village.  Dropping to my knees, I gave a prayer to
Lady Luck and kissed my coin before tucking it safely away again.  It is
better to run and live to fight another day than to die to a carrion eating
fiend, I always say.

Darsylon battle conclusion: Killing blow

I moved away and slept a moment, to catch my breath.  Then I slowly crept
back to where they waited to find their bard asleep, likely passed out from
the alcohol I could smell about him.  As I arrived, their Magi had returned
and was casting about with purple dust, and once again I found myself
covered!  I quickly entered the treetop homes and the warrior pursued,
thinking me an easy mark.  However, he left his singer napping below.  With a
quick distraction, I slipped behind him and plunged my dagger into his back!
A fierce round of fighting followed, with me scoring several hits.  He
attempted to run at this point, only to find me blocking his path.  After the
second round of fighting, he no longer moved.

Having dispatched two of the three, I turn my attention to the bard, who had
awoken in a drunken stupor to find himself alone and facing me.With a
savage grin, I launched into an attack, knocking his legs out and kicking him
while he lay on the ground.  Over and over I did so, letting all my rage poor
through my kicks, driving the very wind from his lungs as I plunged my dagger
into his skin and bruised his body.  Finally, he too moved no more  My foes
met Death and I somehow survived.

I have always thought of myself as lucky, despite my childhood.On this
grand day, I know it to be true.  Pulling out my favorite coin, the first one
I had ever stolen, I flipped it into the air and caught it, giving it a quick
kiss for luck.  Time to spill the guts of another Magi and one can never
have enough luck.

Darsylon battle continued: Flight!

It was a tough fight, and the warrior managed to sever my hamstring and
pierce my artery.  I knew I was in trouble as the bard kept them both healthy
and protected with his voice.  I fled as I neared death, knowing that my
weakened legs could not carry me from the city and so I led them on a grim
chase through the city.  Up to the trees and back down, every once in a while
they managed to catch me and engage for a brief moment.  Upon calling, I
found Orilin, the famed BattleRager singer was nearby in Udgaard, and began
making his way to me.  However, I had to survive until then.

Finally my hamstrung leg began to feel better and my wounded artery closed,
however the damned glow still surrounded me.  Just as despair and knowledge
of my impending death was beginning to set in, Orilin arrived.  My savior, or
so I thought I had just reached him when my pursuers did as well and began
kicking my feet out.  I fought with all my might, lasting far longer than I
thought possible.  Each time they knocked me down, I stood again.  Finally,
it was the half-drow bard that fled, so badly had I beaten him up.  As he
fled, I managed to escape the warrior and run just as the glow fell from my
body.  Orilin sang a few songs to bolster my health before I moved from him,
so that they could not use him to track me.  However, I was not through with
them yet.

A battle in the heart of Darsylon

On a cold, stormy night, I visited the elven home of Darsylon in search of
Magi, bent on spilling their guts.  Lo and behold did I spot one, a birdman,
in the travel of a fierce birdman warrior of the Nexus and a bard of mixed
heritage.  I approached slowly with my blades at the ready, a dagger with an
electrical charge ready for both of my birdmen foes.  Watching them fight, I
realized that my best chance would be to take the Magi casting forth
elemental magic out quickly.  With that goal in mind, I attacked!

The first blow struck his guts, spilling them everywhere and before he knew
what happened, my blade pierced him multiple times while I bashed his head in
with my mace.  He dropped quickly at my feet, a surprised look on his beaked
face and I felt my pulse quicken at vengeance served.  However, my plan to
dash to safety with the Magi dead was ruined by the mixed blooded drow, who
found the wits to sing a song that outlined me.  Thus the true battle began,
as we faced off, me versus the pair of them.

A path of hatred

Abandoned as a child and put in an orphanage, Ustul had a life similar to
many other unfortunate kids.  Beaten for myriad reasons, Ustul learned to
endure punishments quietly, lest he face further pain.  Such beatings
hardened him and prepared him for the tough road ahead.Overall, perhaps his
time as an orphan can be seen as a blessing in disguise.

Once he had endured enough punishment, Ustul slipped away from the orphanage
and found his way to the streets of Galadon.  There he joined a small street
gang of children and begged, fought and stole for his survival.Day to day
life was challenging, never knowing if he would be able to fill his belly and
a growing resentment within him grew for those that sought the easy way out.
Perhaps if he had some talent, Ustul would have been tempted to learn the
arcane ways, for what was one more theft, if even a theft of power from the
gods?  However, with no aptitude for it, Ustul instead began to make a
priority of Magi for his marks, robbing more from them than perhaps wise.

Although he was quick and skilled in the ways of theft, Ustul could not
escape notice for long.On one foggy day, his world changed quite
remarkably, for Ustul was discovered in his act of thievery.  Upon picking a
mark and slitting their purse, Ustul found himself ringed in a pink glow,
unable to blend with the shadows.  It did not take much notice for the Blood
Tribunal to arrive on scene and shackle Ustul, preventing his escape.  The
whole time the Magi stood by and laughed, while his fat body jiggled and the
hatred within Ustul grew.

After receiving a fine and twenty lashes, Ustul decided that it was time to
do something further than petty thief.  As such, he took his finely honed
blade and drenched it in the blood of his first Magi.  With determination, he
then set forth on his path to join the Village of the BattleRagers and make a
name for himself.  No more will the Magi be able to hide behind their power
and live in luxury while others struggle to even eat.
