Description

You find yourself gazing upon a behemoth giant towering before you. Towering a mighty 15 feet high or more, this hulking beast of a fire giant is massive, standing tall over those around him with a menacing presence about him. The color of his flesh is blazing red, like the lavas from a volcano itself. His thick, hardened skin is covered with healed cuts, scars and wounds, giving him a battle hardened and brutal look. His face has an angry look to it, constantly scowling with some drool dripping down his chin onto his bristling black beard. One greasy mess of a war braid makes up his beard, tied at the bottom with a tiny ring of bone. His eyes are fiery red and match his skin color, burning with hatred and lust behind them. His head is bare of hair, rugged and leathery like the rest of his skin. He wears battered armor over simple leather hides, worn and dented with trophies of bone and shriveled hide. His movements are slow and deliberate, his massive form lumbering about with every small move. The massive fire giant before you is terrifying sight to behold, you look again and you can discern that

Role

Uxorn the Godless

Added Tue Feb 14 01:25:16 2023 at level 36:
Uxorn resents and has a deep hatred for all Gods because of his background
prior to his joining of the guild. His defeat in war as a warrior by Paladin
knights on the shores of the volcano. His enslavement and use as entertainment
in a gladiator slave camp murdering his own kin. The abandonment of the gods
by him when he prayed and bargained and pleaded for a blessing of strength to
escape his imprisonment. Uxorn makes his own way without and in spite of the
gods, and lives in resentment of them.

Because of Uxorn's resentment of the gods, he has a resentment of all priests
and followers of gods, though not all his resentment is equal. Paladins are
hated most of all, and it takes great control for him to not lash out at them
in bloodlust in retaliation for the war on the volcano. All other priests of
the light are next, often joining the ranks of paladins. All other priests are
distrusted, mocked, or held in disdain. Other followers of gods are tolerated
stubbornly, if at all, but Uxorn is known to speak freely and ill of gods
often. If he can have his choice of prey, then he wishes to conquer Paladins,
Shamans, Healers, and avid zealots of all gods. He has a lustful soul though,
and as he grows deeper in his guild, he is finding fewer and fewer reasons to
let others live in his hunting. If they are not useful to him, he can make
them useful by sapping a piece of their power to use against the paladins he
hunts.

Uxorn joined the Blood Tribunal as a source of coin and work. He never
intended it to be permanent and saw it as a means to an end to gain power in
his guild. However, he has begun to enjoy the structure and routine of his
post, even taking pride in it. He has begun to make roots in the Spire, no
longer seeing it as a stepping stone, but as a duty and cruel enjoyment. He
enjoys authority over others, and bringing criminals and the enemies of the
Spire to justice. He has not yet had to deal with a priest in the spire yet,
but he could surely meet them with contempt.

As Uxorn declared himself "The Godless" and gained power in forbidden,
dangerous unholy arts, the devils below in the inferno whispered to him and
responded to his calls for infernal magic. The more Uxorn uses this magic, the
more the power of the devils and the pit lords of the inferno takes hold of
him, turning him into an unholy abomination of death and destruction. Uxorn is
aware that his use of unholy magic is extracting a price, he is ignorant to
the dangers of infernal powers though, too lustful for more to care about the
cost.

Nightmares of Gods and Devils, Debt and Duty

Added Mon Mar 6 04:58:21 2023 at level 38:
Since taking his first souls, Uxorn has been visited by beings of great power
in the Inferno in his dreams. Mammon, Minos, Baphomet, even the twelve pit
fiends of power had come and gone. There were too many for him to remember
them all. Some simply stared quietly, demanding, judging. Others whispered
suggestive and maddening thoughts from the fire and ice of the hells. This was
sure, he was bound for the Inferno when his life ended. Uxorn had no desire to
burn with the rest of the poor souls there. There was a hierarchy in the
Inferno, and his time in the spire had helped him in realizing that. If he was
bound for the Inferno, he would not suffer. He would not give the gods the
satisfaction of him sinking into the nine circles. So he began to bargain.
Souls of priests and followers of the gods, for power and position in the
Inferno.

Each of the powerful beings he bargained with had different demands, but they
all desired the same thing. Keep his commitment to order, and starve the gods
of prayer and praise by slaughtering their priests and followers. He would
weaken the gods, and do whatever was needed to leave them vulnerable to harm
or death. This would be a lifelong task, but they would offer him some
protection from the gods. The gods were sure to mark him for death, even
strike at him themselves. He sought to avoid conflict with the gods, as his
infernal protection was limited. There would be no shortage of souls to come,
war loomed overhead with the village, and positions of power in the spire were
up for grabs. His soul burned with hatred for the gods for his misfortunes,
and his lustful soul desired the true might of Infernal magics. If he were to
succeed, he would not wither away in hell, but have a position of power
fitting of his sacrifices.

Uxorn sets his sights on the Vindicator's badge.

Added Wed Mar 22 03:47:22 2023 at level 45:
Uxorn sat in the vacant Vindicators office, late in the night when the watch
was slow. He snapped his flail a bit, running his hands over the chain of it,
admiring the pulsing power from within. He had not taken many souls, but he
was not like many of his guild. He desired only souls that the Devils would
deem worthy, not weak souls from any random adventurer, they must be
purposeful, or strong. He was uninterested in boasting on things that would
not prove his might. His lust for power was not without wanting though. Souls
of priests, criminals, savages of the tree, or battleragers of the village
were his targets. The devils were sated, for now. But their lust overcame even
his own. He would rule in the Inferno, there was no doubt in his mind. He had
the strongest will of any mortal in Thera in his eyes. The spire had granted
him the structure he needed, and guidance to studies of knowledge and magics,
while also satisfying his order to crush chaos. He was a lone warrior in a
eternal war, the Heavens and the Hells. He would fight the war viciously,
falling only to rise again and come back stronger. He was determined.

He had served the spire almost his whole life, since his very youth in the
guild. There had not been a Vindicator in his life, but the Spire demanded
one. Criminals were the only thing he hated with almost equal passion as
priests, he had taken well to his structure and orderly ways, to prepare for
his time ruling in the Inferno after his passing. He would not fail and burn,
but rise, mightier and mightier until the world shook. He had spent many hours
in this office, wondering, waiting. The spire was crippled by the lack of a
Vindicator, and the Provost and Justiciar had urged him to write the Law god
Ishuli, and make his desires known. He did so, but in such a way that he hoped
he would not have to deal with Ishuli's wrath. Of all gods, Ishuli would be
the last god to die, if it came to it. Priests of the spire were even
tolerated, also saved for the last of all priests to walk Thera. The
Vindicator position was one he had his sights on. He had no fear of criminals,
and he preferred hunting to watching. His dark magics would be a boon to the
Spire, and his very presence would make criminals think twice about daring to
break the law again. He was mighty, he was relentless, and he would not rest
until he had what he felt was rightfully his.
