Description
Towering over her surroundings is a striking young giantess, built with wiry
strength and all the grace her massive frame will allow. Skin the deep blue
of the cloudless sky before dawn, her worn, scarred face is often creased
with a gentle smile. Piercing green eyes, a shade of tropical sea foam, scan
the area with the wary calm of a fighter. Mismatched armor, tied tight to her
curvaceous form with long purple strands of seaweed, lends her a salty air. A
relatively small tattoo of a black and white whale swims down the right side
of her neck, tail hidden in the fringe of her unruly, verdant mop of
perpetually-wet hair.
Role
The Great Storm War
Added Thu Nov 7 19:42:23 2013 at level 25:
In the weeks and months following the Great Storm, the storm that roused the
sleeping giants from the depths of the ocean, the survivors banded together
into a proper army. Although weakened and confused from their long slumber,
the giants were what they are: children of the gods, thus ready for a war.
Born to warfare. Divisions, regiments, brigades were quickly formed as they
marched, and swam, to protect their still-awakening brothers and sisters from
all the inherent evils of the new world.
In due course sahuagin raiders and Chaos necromancers were put to the spear
and, if only for a brief moment, the sea belonged to the blue-skinned giants.
Songs were sung and legends were lied about the famed, feared companies of
the day. White-Tooth Grin became the nom de guerre for a team of polar bear
shamans notorious for shredding fire giants between massive sheets of ice.
Catfish Whiskers for the intelligence bureau and strangely-silent
underwater assassins. Blood in the Water for the berserkers who may, or may
not, have eaten their foes before, or after, they killed them.
She of the Sea
Added Thu Nov 7 19:45:16 2013 at level 25:
She of the Sea was named for a tale, old even in the pre-Storm days, of a
mythic orca who would range over the wide expanses of unsettled ocean and
protect fishermen and lost children. In the war they were the fastest
swimmers, tasked with waking the Sleepers and escorting civilians through the
chaotic, three-dimensional battlefield to safe haven. Because of the
unpredictable nature of their mission, the warriors and healers of the
company would often be cut off from direct command. Without direct command
they began to identify more with their unit than the overarching structure.
In this identification they coalesced and thrived, while all around them the
army disintegrated into petty squabbles and feuds. When the war was over, and
various kingdoms and republics were founded, She of the Sea remained as an
impartial but respected arbiter of the peace between the various nations, and
between all the storm giants and the natural world they variably accepted as
their new home.
Valacchi Rainsurge is a daughter of a warrior and healer, and born to the
company that became its own army. Compassion and wrath are the high and low
tides of her soul, and she seeks (like most storms) a deity who understands
both. She bears the mark of the orca, the hunter of the deep, the killer
whale, to remind her of her heritage and duty. She has few words for her
friends and almost none for her enemies, if only because there is much work
to do.
