Description
The light seemly bends away as dark shadows manifest
around this figure shrouding him with an eerie aura
of evil. His face remains a mystery concealed under
the dark shadow of his hood save for his bloodshot
red eyes. Flowing black robes hang loosely over the
armor of this human reaching down to his calves. In
his right hand, he carries a wooden staff capped by a
humanoid skull at the top. As he walks, his knee
high black boots create a resonating dull sound along
the ground.

Vanzokh was damned from the time of his birth. He
was found abandoned in a home inside the outlying
villages east of Arkham. His parents were most
likely of the possessed. He grew up in an orphanage
until he reached his teens when he then took on work
with the local gravedigger. Vanzokh was fascinated
with dead and took what little money he earned to
take lessons in the guild of necromancy. One day he
came across an ancient scroll of the story of the god
Zurcon. Tempted by the promise of power, the
accursed youth left the villages and journeyed to the
mainland in search of the ivory box.
A discovery

After wandered the lands, growing in power, the
accursed youth now began to raise the dead assembling
creatures from the graves of those long passed and
raising zombies from the recently deceased. One day
while leading his undead minions through the ruined
city, Vanzokh felt something drawing him to the far
north east of the city. He tracked up the Luadge
road and a path leading through a sparse mountain
forest before reaching a temple across the Loch
Grynmear. At first glance the temple seemed to be a
peaceful place, but Vanzokh sensed the very dark
presence somewhere in this place that brought him
here. Vanzokh took the liberty of searching through
the belongings of the inhabitants of the temple. In
one of the rooms, he found a dark book on top of a
waldrobe. He examined the book, carefully persuing
each entry learning as much as he can. According to
the book, there was a Gralikon somewhere in this
place that was given to the Death Knight Graznarah by
Zurcon that could summon demons and devils from the
inferno. Vanzokh also realized the book in his hands
possessed the power to bring harm to his foes by
simply reciting a single phrase. He further searched
within the temple until, he found a dark place filled
with demons and devils from the infernos of hell
under the temple in the catacombs. It was obvious
that someone had been using the Gralikon here
recently. Crawling through the catacombs Vanzokh
came across a hidden passage leading to an ancient
shrine. The accursed youth had discovered a temple
built for the Death Knight Graznarah.
The encounter

Vanzokh slowly entered the shrine, his eyes fixated on the iron altar covered
in dry blood before him. As Vanzokh approached, he noticed a priestess
dressed in torn black silk robes standing beside the altar. She called out
to him offering him power in return for retrieving a blood-red ruby. He
agreed to her offer and set out searching the tunnels for the ruby. After
searching for some time and retrieving the ruby, he returned to the temple to
fulfill his part of the bargain. Upon handing the ruby to the priestess, she
did not hesitate to place it within the gralikon and invoke its power on the
unsuspecting Vanzokh. Two devils emerged out of shadows to aid the priestess
and block his escape. Vanzokh was defeated in this battle, but he was not
discouraged. He quickly gathered his undead minions who had been absent in
the previous battle and returned in force with zombies and golem at his side.
engaged the priestess in battle once again. This time he defeated her
and sent her fleeing into the caverns. As she escaped, she dropped the
gralikon. Sensing the power within, Vanzokh picked up the gralikon and
examined it carefully before packing it away. With the gralikon he could now
call forth the demons and devils from hell to crush his foes.
A few days later, Vanzokh returned to the temple to explore it further. As
he approached the altar, he spotted the priestess there once more. At first
she was startled at his return. She then acknowledged his worthiness in
battle and proposed that they work together to free the Demon-God Zurcon.
Vanzokh agreed and retrieved the two objects she had asked for, the Book of
Zurcon and the Belt of Zurcon. The high priestess then granted Vanzokh the
mark of Demon-God Zurcon. As she pressed the unholy branding block into his
skin, Vanzokh vision faded into to a tunnel of black, at the end of which
stare two unblinking red eyes. These eyes he looked into could be no other
than that of his lord, Zurcon staring back at him, tempting his desire for
power, drawing out the darkness out from within his soul, and fueling his
insatiable lust for death and destruction.
The Scions of Eternal Night

Now bearing the mark of three snakes intertwined with lightning bolts,
Vanzokh realized that finding the ivory box and setting free his lord would
not be an easy task and many would stand in his way and try to stop him. In
order to succeed in his quest, he would need unimaginable power to crush his
foes. This led Vanzokh to seek out another prophecy, the Prophecy of the
Eternal Night. By seeking out those of the chasm, he would gain allies to
help fight off his enemies and aid in research.Should they manage to
fulfill the prophecy, in addition to having the favor of the beings let into
this world, he would use the power gained to help search for the ivory box
and in finding a way to break the magical seals placed on it.
A Sinister Secret Revealed

Having taken his place among those of the Chasm,
Vanzokh slowly grew in power until becoming a
spectre. All that is left to complete his studies is
the transformation into one of the undead
forms. According to his research there appears to be
three major races of undead, the lich, mummy
and vampire. The path of those who wished to become
mummies lays under the Sultan's city in the
ghoul tunnels where a conservator is rumored to
reside. The power of the mummy, though formidible
seemed to have its limits. Little is known of
transformation to become a vampire, but they seem
very dependant on the blood of others. Vampires are
also known to be able to shift into other
creatures but like the mummy the extent of their
power has a limit. Then there is the lich. A
being that capable of stealing life energy from
fallen victims and harnessing their knowledge. Such
a beings power would be only limited by the amount of
life around him. This would be the undead
form Vanzokh would seek out for it holds the greatest
power. He would need to research a method of
creating a potent elixir for his transformation. For
this he would travel to Arboria and seek out
the high priest in his church there who had the
knowledge he needed.
But why would someone go through all this and give up
their life to become undead? Vanzokh had a hidden
sinister plan behind all his efforts. Once he
undergoes his transformation and grows in power by
stealing the life energy of his fallen victims, he
would seek out the 13 death knights of Zurcon.
Although he only discovered references to four of the
thirteen death knights in his studies, the 4 known
might have knowledge to the whereabouts of the other
nine. Being an undead master mage, Vanzokh would be
able to raise the 13 undead knights, each eager to
bring their lord to power once again, from their
slumber and set them free. This undead legion of
lich with death knights in tow would scour the lands
in search of the ivory box town by town, leaving no
stone unturned, no secret unrevealed, no man, woman
or child alive.
A Slight Change of Plans

After enduring the long journey through the Arborian
graveyard and trying to seek out the High Priest
there numerous times only to meet silence, Vanzokh
now takes this as a sign that his Lord does not wish
him to drink the exilir and transform into a lich.
He now plays to seek out the ghoul tunnels and the
Conservator that resides there. Although studies
show that the lich can grow in power more than a
that of a Mummy, Vanzokh sees the Mummy as a state
of being inbetween that of the living and dead. The
Mummy having the ability to mimic the living and
dead at its disposal. He will seek out the form of
the Mummy for now and should more power be required
later, he will put further research into a
transformation from Mummy to Lich.
