Description

Dressed in the finest black leather a mortal such as herself could hope to ever find, Vipra grins at you most evilly, eyeing you from head to toe like a trophy to stuff and place on her mantle. Her long brown hair is tied back with a large emerald set onto a white gold clamp. A spiked, gem-encrusted bodice lifts and shapes her lithe form quite nicely. With a strange barbed cage framing her thin face and pupiless eyes, her slim feet and sleek body dangle beneath her seemingly floating head. She is feeding on the blood of the damned, her ruby-stained lips part in a malicious smile. Coyly she bites her finger and with fluid grace she admires the pool of blood that gathers at her feet.

The Birth of Gluttony

Vipra's appetite was uncontrollable from conception. She shared
the womb of the Mayor of Galadon's sister with her twin brother.
Barely half way through the pregnancy, he mother noticed unusual
movement within her stomach. It was Vipra finding and then gnawing
on her twin brother. What parts of her brother she was not able
to finish were flushed out within days. Having no real consciousness
or ability to control actions, feelings or emotions, Vipra's pre-
natal being was acting on pure instinct. Late in the third trimester
a her ppetite began to run rampant, she was not being fed enough 
from her mother. Her mother rushed to the infirmary in Galadon with
severe stomach pains. The healer tried to comfort her but what
cure was there for a baby eating its way to freedom? In a bloody
mess, Vipra was born by tearing herself out from her mother's
stomach, leaving her dying and beyond help.

Word got to the Mayor of his sister's demise and with his political
career always taking priority Vipra was rushed off to the orphanage
in Balator, cast out from the family.  She was seen as a liability 
that his political opponents would use to try and oust him from his 
cosy office.

Escape from the Orphanage

Life in the orphanage was far from safe for the children there.
As if by daily ritual, people would come from far and wide into
Balator with the sole intention of slaughtering as many of the
orphans as possible. Vipra was wily though and saw this as an
opportunity.  She'd hide in Jaragh's Quarters during each attack
and when silence came, she would sneak out and quietly start
gathering the body parts that lay strewn across the hallways.
This was more than enough to keep her stomach full.

Unfortunately, she ended up being caught devouring her fellow
slain orphans. Jaragh was appalled by the behaviour and, upon
consultation with the blacksmith just north of the orphanage, a
metal cage was constructed and placed over the face of Vipra
to try and control her hunger. Over the years, this cage would
get ensconced in her jaw making it entirely unmoveable.

Barely into her teenage years, Vipra escaped from the orphanage
taking enough body parts to last the long trip down the eastern
road to Galadon.  There she wanted to start anew, free from the
control of Jaragh.

Making Ends Meet

Added Wed Aug 11 17:32:34 2021 at level 26:

It was not long after she had settled in Galadon that she found
work for the Coffinmaker off Holy Road. He'd ask her to routinely
enter the Galadonian graveyard and vanquish the zombies, ghouls
skeletons, banshees and ghosts that haunted it. Vipra was happy
to do so because it afforded her enough coin to live within the
city walls and also provided her with an excuse to roam the tomb
riddled pathways of the graveyard looking for left over body parts.
This particular arrangement went on for several years and Vipra
became used to the routine however, like all good things, it came
to an end when the Coffinmaker decided that she'd slain enough
of the undead and the graveyard was 'cleansed'.

It was not long before the insufferable and never-ending pang
deep in her stomach began like the foreboding of drums of war
echoing from within a dark cave.
