Description
The lithe form of a beautiful female drow is here. She has dark-grey hair
speckled with tiny motes of spores. Her stern face has no wrinkle or sign of
age and is flawlessly remarkable. Deep, green eyes pierce through her facade
and give her the look of a wilder, uncommon for a drow. She wears an
assorment of leather and does not appear to be worn down by travel. A belt
sheathed with knives is where her hands seem to settle naturally and behind
her cloak there's a hint of more sinister weaponry.
A black mold or fungus edges the bottom rim of her boots as if she's been
walking through some thick muck and it clings to her very being. Looking over
the warrioress once more you notice. . .
Role
Patrol Duty

"Here I am again on patrol duty as punishment. If they only knew I actually
enjoyed patrol instead of that pointless magics class," said Viqu.
"Sister, if you're so hard set on throwing away your future, please do so in
a way where I can finally advance and not live in your shadow. Mother puts
up with you because you are the most skilled fighter among us, maybe even
more than the Weaponmaster," said Tsinador.
"The only waste is how much time I've spent with that bore of an Archmage.
HA! What a joke that old fool is. What good is speaking those incantations
when it takes me so little time to sneak a dagger into your throat? The old
fool didn't have an answer for that one, did he!" proclaimed Viqu in triumph.
"Yes, sister, he did. It's called patrol duty," reminded Tsinador.
The two warrioresses moved slowly through the Underdark with not a sound
in deep, dark shadow. Their eyes were so well trained for low light that they
could spot a hook horror from a hundred yards. They soon came upon a large
cracked opening at the far end of the tunnel and a small bed of mushrooms
collecting around the gap. A small current of air could be felt leaving the
crack and one or two motes of mushroom spore hanging in the air.
"Odd, Tsinador do you remember this crack being here last week when we were
on patrol?" Questioned Viqu to her sister.
"Let's see, last week, ah yes! Caught the Archmagi's robes on fire when you
threw a single spark from your flintstone and dagger pretending to sharpen
it? Hmm, mushroom crack in the wall must have skipped my mind," said
Tsinador with smirk.
"What do you think is in that direction? Too far for the deep gnomes to be
mining in our territory. Too far for the hook horrors to be nesting. And
the mushrooms. Let's see," said Viqu as she began to pace and gain her
bearings. "This is in the same direction as the abandoned mines," Viqu
proffered to her sister.
"Yes, you may be right," agreed Tsinador, "but do not think for one instance
that you're going to - " but before Tsinador could protest, Viqu was through
the gap and gone. "You bitch! Don't leave me here!" Shouted Tsinador and she
knew it was already too late for her to do anything about her hard headed
sister. Viqu had the heart for adventure with a physicality to match the
foolhardy spirit. "I'm sure she will be okay," Tsinador thought to herself as
she returned to report their findings in Teth Azeleth.
Two Paths diverged in the Underdark
Added Wed Sep 7 23:33:39 2022 at level 2:
Viqu wandered through the deep, dank tunnel for over an hour before she came
to a split. It was an old abandoned svirfnebli ambush tunnel that was dug
centuries ago by the miners at war with the dark-elves. This one was dug too
shallow and in time it finally crumbled to reveal its secret. They would leave
the last foot of the tunnel untouched from breaching through into the known
tunnels of the Underdark. The svirfnebli enchanters would feel for vibrations
in the stone through honed rods in the stone and when anyone passed by they
would unleash an earth elemental using the remaining stone to smother the
opposing force followed by spears and pickaxes once they were down. It was
brutal warfare but the drow quickly learned to fill suspected ambush chambers
with poison gas from their own host of summoned demons to counter these
tactics. At the time, the mines were a profitable harvest of gems and precious
stones, but once they were abandoned the skirmishes ceased and both sides
abandoned the exploration.
The abandonment by each side was claimed due to heavy losses to one another,
but in reality there was a much more serious and secret reason. One that
Viqu was completely unaware of.
At the split in the tunnel, Viqu peered and then sniffed down each pathway.
They appeared the same and no ill-odor alerted her to any danger but only
one tunnel held tiny motes of mushroom spores slowly drifting down it and
curiosity got the better of her. "Where are all of these mushrooms coming
from?" she thought to herself. Down the west tunnel she went and ever so
slightly the motes of mushrooms began to increase. It was one or two at first
but then it was three, four, five, ten, fifteen, twenty until a cloud of motes
was all that filled her vision.
How long had she been walking? What was she doing again? Was she on her way
home? Where was Tsinador? Who is Tsinador again? How long had she been
walking? What's my name again? Where was I going again? What is that smell?
Is this the way out? How long have I been walking? She quickly forgot it all.
Decay

Viqu kept a steady, unpanicked pace down the tunnel and soon she was in daze
as she entered a field of giant mushrooms. Her steps were as silent as ever
but as the spores grew thickest here she finally began to stumble. In an
effort to catch herself she put a hand out to brace herself on a large, soft
mushroom.
*SHREEEIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!*
The sound from the large mushroom was so thunderous, Viqu thought her head
was going to split open. The chain reaction to follow was all of the other
mushrooms unleashing their own horrifying cloud of spores and shrieks that
rendred Viqu clutching her head laying in a fetal position, slowly rocking,
coughing, and screaming until she passed out.
When she finally came to, her world had changed. All of the mushrooms had
faces and there was blue light coming glowing out from the mushroom stems that
made the cavern look like a wonderous place of beauty.
"Hello! Hello! Hello! Hello!" said the many thousands of mushrooms one at a
time all over the cavern.
"H-Hullo," said Viqu very confused.
A large mushroom walked up to her and introduced itself.
"Greetings, I am Decay," said the mushroom.
In a daze and having the slightest memory that mushrooms are not supposed
to talk, Viqu slowly lunged out her hand and sliced off part of the mushroom
face with her dagger and the piece fell to the floor.
The face grew back almost instantly and the piece on the floor walked off
with a skip and a song about rainbows.
"Yes, thank you for that," said Decay. "Just so you know, there's no
meaningful way in which you can harm or kill me. I am a god and you have not
yet joined me. I am the invevitable conclusion to this world, you see!"
said Decay happily. "In time, all will join and share my power!"
Viqu stood motionless with her arms slack at her side. She dropped her dagger
and it clanged to the floor.
"Wonderful! I have a task for you and then I'll send you on your way!" the
mushroom smiled and a slight glimpse of thousands of needle-like teeth could
be seen in its mouth. Decay unleashed a torrent of spores at Viqu that invaded
her senses and insane visions began to leap across her mind.
Visions of the Future
Added Wed Sep 7 23:40:03 2022 at level 2:
Visions of small towns growing up, a wooden fortification. Lightning strikes
or fire starts from war, the city is ruins and the ground is green again.
Another city takes its place but this time it's more organized and better
fortified. Fire, it's ash and the field is green again. Ice comes, the season
changes, a city springs to life all of a sudden again and this time it is
stone. Lightning strikes, fire spreads, the city crumbles. The wall topples
and the field begins to overtake the ruines again. Mages form a circle, the
field is razed, the earth shifts, stone, metal, and glass appear in a
completely new type of city is formed. Lightning strikes, water comes from
some unknown source and the flames are extinguished. War comes, the city
defends itself, fires are put out and the damage is repaired. Suddenly, the
vision fades and Decay is there grinning at Viqu with those needle-like teeth
dripping with anger.
"Yes, isn't it terrible! There's a parasite out there and each time it's
just a little bit harder to get rid of, don't ya know!" nods Decay assuridly.
"This is where you come in my little warrior friend! I'm going to let you
keep living and in exchange, you're going to go up there and kill everyone and
burn everything down and speed up my rise to power! Doesn't that sound
great!" said Decay, and all the little mushrooms cheered and shrieked.
Viqu fell to her knees again and Decay motioned the mushrooms to quiet down.
"I'll be watching you very closely my little spore!" grinned Decay.
Viqu looked up at the mushroom and as more spores entered her senses she
felt her memories begin to fade from her mind. All of her ambition, any
relationship, and any sense of family fell from her. A vision of war, fire,
and the green wilds of Thar-Eris took the place of what she forgot.
"There, there," comforted Decay, and as Viqu's eyes began to glaze over
the last vision she held was that of the needle-like teeth, rows and rows
of them growing wider and wider closing around her neck.
She woke with a startle to find herself before a towering female figure.
The female seneschal called herself Jeseztha and motioned Viqu in the
direction she needed to go and that this place was called the Academy.
Her training started today and she had best protect herself because Thera
is a dangerous place filled with many horrible things to discover.
