Description
Standing at roughly thirteen feet tall, the cloud giant before you seems
shorter than most but you quickly notice that it is because he hovers closer
to the ground - an odd stance for one that carries himself proudly. Clad in
the vestments of a priest, the agile and well-placed armor shows that he is a
combat medic and not new to the field of death. Each piece is ornately
decorated with draconian emblems or imagery but unlike most of his path there
is no iconic representation of a known god visible. From his muscular build,
he seems young and well trained despite several scars that mar his body -
including a nasty thin piece of flesh on his left forearm that stretches over
a gaping hole of missing muscle tissue. Unemotional grey eyes peer out
beneath bushy white eyebrows, hovering like clouds over his sea-colored skin
- his demeanor and attitude seems always serious and foreboding. As you look
closer at his condition and armament, you assess the following...
Role
Anger of the Dragon
Added Thu Sep 18 23:50:19 2008 at level 51:
Entering the small temple had become a familiar sight by this point - a
gigantic cloud giant stammered in to rest amongst the remote Hillcrest
priesthood. The stench of devil's blood marred his legendary armament, the
repugnant smell reminiscent of those that traveled the Inferno. Accompanied
by a few Scions and their nightwalkers, the group simply exchanged nods as
they dispersed to leave the giant to his rest. Resting upon his hind legs
like the dragons he worshiped, this seemingly normal occurrence was
interrupted by a particularly loud-mouthed gnome.
"So, hear you're the Empress lack-" The gnome couldn't react fast enough as a
heavy mace lashed across his face. Reminiscent of the backhand swipe of an
enormous beast, the Prophet sent the gnome crashing into the opposing wall
with a slight crunch. The little guards rattled their spears as the glare of
the giant kept them at bay but the fight was already over; the gnome fumbled
out an apology while spitting out his front teeth.
"The Prophet not take lightly to attacks - Drokalantym *is* absolute strength
as must be Prophet. The Lurker's Orc...." continued Vizjun through the
questioning stare of the small crowd. "...soon Chief constantly attacked by
Fortress - in process kept attacking Prophet." Shrugging slightly as if
growing bored, he finishes by saying "Prophet get revenge and destroy their
blasphemy scales, Fortress whine to weaker gods. Just like those hunt
dragons, kin and Prophet hunts back...amusing for now." It is then that
Vizjun realizes he's actually talking with the whimpering midgets before him
and he abruptly stops with a deathly glare.
As the room quickly scatters, Vizjun realizes for a single moment what it
must be like to be feared amongst the "food"....to be a dragon.
Dragon greed embelished
Added Sun Sep 14 18:00:12 2008 at level 51:
A lot had transpired since the days of youth where a lowly cloud giant
started to become the Prophet. In the beginning his goals were simple
obtainable tasks.... mostly revolving around amusing Drokalantym enough to
survive (which luckily had been the case thus far). His strive to hunt the
blasphemers of the Kin and to renew the fear of the Lurker into the world had
been successful. Garnering enemies to keep himself amused and his beliefs
sound, Vizjun had become a battle priest of the Greatest and world renown for
it... but he now stood at the crossroads that so many did as the years raged
forward and his youth slipped away. Ever aging man must ask himself "what
now?".
With the Lurker's last discussion of ancient knowledge not fit for humanoids,
the Prophet felt oddly out of place. He had done what none dare do before and
yet his own body and mind was a limitation - perhaps a limitation from the
Lurker's own disinterest in breaking such boundaries. Vizjun's intention was
never to become the jester of a greater being but knew his work need interest
and address his god's boredom for mankind. His path would remain unaltered in
course but would gain a new addition - find, search, or perhaps even just
think of way to gain more of Drokalanatym's favor. Just like any dragon that
Vizjun mimics, the Prophet's greed for more would not end now.
Dragon strength unleashed
Added Mon Sep 8 10:59:35 2008 at level 36:
The darkness of the Arena waiting room was stifling, the air damp with sweat
and the pugnacious smell of blood. A deafening roar of the crowd echoed
through the walls but such loud noise did nothing to startle the priest -
nothing compared to the true wrath of Drokalanatym that coursed through his
body. Wielding a heavily weighted weapon to oppress his opponent from an
aerial vantage point, Vizjun entered a trance like state as the memory of
alien knowledge calmed his thoughts. Blinding light abruptly filled the room
as the door opened - the battle begun.
The warrior approached Vizjun with an attempt to bash him senseless - but
even without his protective shield, Vizjun's faith had become an unmovable
rock. Even the gods of man cheered with each connecting blow as the Prophet
charged relentlessly at his prey. Stunned by such frenzy, the warrior
foolishly attempted to run around the cage - but the animal inside wasn't
finished. As the final hammer strike shattered the consciousness from his
foe, Vizjun felt reminded of the Sleepers and their kin; they feasted on the
weakness of Man as food and so did he strike down those that thought low of
the greatest God.
Ending as quickly as it had begun, Vizjun stood amongst the combatants of the
world as a champion. The Lurker's presence of strength had been fulfilled,
the fate of the Prophet continuing to unfold. Staring down the onlooking
followers of the weaker gods as he exited the arena, Vizjun for once felt
proud. He roared to the skies and his God with pleasure.
First Contact
Added Fri Aug 29 00:45:06 2008 at level 15:
Working his way through the throngs of people along the Seaport, Vizjun
caught a glimpse of a massive shadow that blocked the moon for a mere second
- trained to keep his eyes always looking above, he knew it was Him. As fast
as possible, Vizjun fought his way through the masses and flew across the
ocean to the highest peak he could find....it was there where Drokalanatym
landed and graced the world with his presence. Struggling to keep his calm
amongst his god, he mentally tried to capture each word's meaning before
speaking - each one which could be life or death. The First's responses
echoed loudly through his mind, the mental speak pushing stars into his
vision from the strain...each breath became harder as every second Vizjun
envisioned his own death for a single mistake. Any mortal not used to such
pressure would have passed out but fate had prepared this moment - Vizjun
survived. Graced with ancient alien knowledge for His amusement, Vizjun's
mind shattered to the brinks of insanity. His medical training had allowed
him to contain the mental instability but he would need a cure...
..but nothing would cure his determination which some would call insane - the
Lurker would be reminded to Thera.
Summary of Vizjun Caldeum
Added Tue Aug 26 23:53:59 2008 at level 1:
=Vizjun Caldeum has dedicated his life to following the Lurker and his whims
for a possible mortal prophet - a deadly path that Vizjun knows will likely
be short-lived but is something he believes fate has already decided. As any
follower of the First, Vizjun holds killing or displays of a defeated dragon
to the highest offense.
=Vizjun's speech is very important to him - each word must count for any
moment of weakness given can mean your death when speaking with dragons.
Those that talk too much get on his nerves and he takes considerable time
before stating anything in the common cloud giant speech patterns.
=Most, if not all, of Vizjun's family is dead - something not uncommon to the
Aryth Ocean group of cloud giants. His last known brother was a sort of
"insurance policy" when meeting with Jade Dusk - he's not murderous but just
holds the value of life differently. If he was to die to such a dragon, it
would be a fitting ending...but not something he wants for himself obviously;
this is partially the reason he chose his role as a healer.
=It's not decided in Vizjun's future if he will join the path of the Nexus.
He has considered the path of balance an interesting take on how to further
protect the unraveling of the known future (with no one in power, nothing
will stop the ending Age of Man) but it is at it's crux a mortal war of
little meaning - for now he is unsure.
Meeting Abyss and Fate
Added Tue Aug 26 23:51:51 2008 at level 1:
Life among his kin was never easy, not even from the beginning. Vizjun's
family was of normal size to the ocean bound giants, with eleven to start -
everyone knew that it was so that over time some would survive....either
feeding the sea dragon, the common abduction from a life-feasting
necromancer, or countless other ways that death would take it's final release
along the Aryth Ocean. Death was not something to fear, it was a very
apparent reality that had lost it's meaning - the impact of the Violet
Spider's curse on these particular cloud giants was fading.
Only a child, Vizjun was first exposed to the sea dragon named Abyss when he
was too young to understand fear. When everyone ran from this beautiful
creature and he noticed how it dictated their lives with fear, he quickly
realized that it was the superior being. As he grew older, his love and
respect for the magnificent beasts became dangerously apparent as his life
would be gambled to just grasp a bit more of the dragon kind. On day he
foolishly entered the Dragon Tower after some reading in the Hamsah Mu'tazz
library of the Sleepers and the Age of Dragons - a nugget of knowledge
blurted out that narrowly saved his life before he was fed to the Ancients
(none dare upset the Lurker) but he did not leave unharmed...a nasty tear in
his left forearm ruined his chance as a standard soldier but he cared little
of the "trapping destiny of man to fight for something". Fumbling with the
priests of Hamsah Mu'tazz who scrambled to mend his grievous wound, the
echoes of a nearby prophet speaking of imminent doom made Vizjun realize he
should probably take up something that would aid his own survival...and
glorify the true executor of the ending Age of Man.
Everything except the future of the Awakening was meaningless. Just as the
world fought their battles, the sun would rise and fall as it always did
until the day They awoke. He would continue his path to meet with
Drokalanatym, which likely could end in his demise, but it was this true
being of power that he would serve - not the Gods of Man, which was a falling
species. No, it was the Dragon God whom he would serve in any way he could to
further end the suffering called hope for mankind....fate was already
decided.
Meeting Jade Dusk - part 2
Added Tue Aug 26 23:49:37 2008 at level 1:
Thrown about like rag dolls in the blast, Vizjun and his brother were sharply
thrust onto the cliff face - a simple crackle of bone and ripping tissue
echoed as his brother landed on an unforgiving sharp surface. Without a
moment's hesitation, Vizjun desperately flung himself out of the way as a
whirling death of shattered trees and boulders darted into the cliff face -
no scream accompanied the sickening crunch and splattering of life among the
rocks. He quickly regained his composure, shrugging off the pain of his
broken wrist which seemed more pressing than the corpse of his dead brother -
he also had a much more apparent issue as Jade Dusk laughed at the former and
latter fools before him. Reaching out with a dramatic talon, Jade Dusk
effortlessly snatched off a lone leg from the dead body to only push the
tasteless boundary further and begin chewing on it in front of the young
cloud giant - he wanted a reaction to enjoy his meal with.
Vizjun made eye contact long enough to show he was serious but not enough to
disrespect his superior. Bowing his head, he quickly raised both hands and
placed one closed fist within the other - an older bow of a time long gone.
His voice was calm over the heavy breathing of the dragon, his statement
clear and concise - every word counted. "Vizjun is mere mortal servant of
Sleepers. Vizjun comes humbling asking where might find First...
Drokalanatym."
Jade Dusk abruptly stopped chewing.
Meeting Jade Dusk - part 1
Added Tue Aug 26 23:47:49 2008 at level 1:
The soft ruffle of leaves broke the eerie silence deep in the woods of the
Shadow Peaks - the wind was beginning to change direction, the whisper of air
becoming an increasing hum of noise. Branches strained and cracked under the
force, the pressure change creating small winding gusts that gave life to the
now fluttering underbrush. Struggling to stay amongst the chaotic thrashing
of the trees, Vizjun and his brother both waited for the inevitable shadow -
the blocking of the sun quickly blotted out any light moments before a
gigantic blast of air seemingly did it's best to flatten the entire forest.
Joined with a deafening concussive boom that unraveled the ground itself with
a shattering quake, clouds of debris and tree shrapnel burst outward from a
monstrous figure that glistened in the sudden glare of day light...He had
arrived.
Very few of the realm knew of one of the eldest of awakened dragons nicknamed
Jade Dusk, a fully matured green dragon unlike the youngster in the Feanwyyn
Weald. Beyond rare sightings in these life-taking cliffs, no mortal had
survived an encounter with this particularly vengeful dragon - Vizjun was
risking his life on the fact that Jade Dusk's solitude had given him a sense
of curiosity....a very risky gamble indeed.
