Description
A roan bull, Vyke's white-and-gold haired form only breaks from such in the
deep onyx black of his horns and hooves. Bearing the brunt of his snorting
is a tarnished gold ring set into his septum, which bears the weathered look
of a treasured keepsake. The spiked points of his heritage curl in on
themselves in a ram's manner before jutting forth from his skull, wickedly
gleaming for the next foe to impale. Broad rather than tall, he is shorter
than most minotaur, but bulges with the muscle common to his kind. Yellow,
almost jaundiced, eyes glint from his face, overseeing all from above the
broad snout that's too-long, even for a minotaur.
Role
Guardsman's Obsession

A Seantryn whelp like most minotaurs, Vyke grappled with loneliness for most
of his existance. Shunned by most thanks to the hideous origins of the
minotaur and the incomprehensibility of their speech, he worked as a laborer,
doing what minotaur do best - hard physical work. Day after day, paycheck
after squandered paycheck - for it is barely enough to sustain the appetites
of a bull - he was endlessly bored, and most importantly, alone. So, he joined
the Seantryn Guard.
They shunned him there, too. Hazing was severe, as it was for most minotaur -
Seantryn being a town for minotaur did not mean it was a town that was
particularly fond of them. Keeping his head down and his arm strong to the
guardsman's halberds and their training gave him something to do, but it
wasn't until he met Her that he finally felt some kind of flame in his heart.
A human from one of the Empire's ships in drydock, she enchanted him on sight
- severe, strong, mocking of the Seantryn guard at their practice. She'd come
while the 'Sworn Sanguine' was in repair after an engagement with the
'Phoenix's Keening', and out of boredom was ridiculing the poor form and lax
training of the Seantryn guardsmen. Every word drove him to rage and superior
focus. He needed to impress this beautiful stranger. Soon, she was gone, and
he couldn't tell whether he had, and that infuriated him.
So much so that when the ship was gone, he joined the true warrior's guild
with his meagre training. He had discovered that when she was leaving, she
had dropped one of her gold rings on the floor - so wealthy she didn't miss
it, apparantly. For a remembrance, he set it as his nose ring. He was going to
find her. He would join the Empire to find her. Someone like that would surely
be strong enough to bear being the partner of a minotaur, whether she
consented or not. She would regret ignoring him.
He wasn't sure whether it was to kill her or to worship her, but Vyke would
FIND HER. And when he would learn of the Burning Heart, he would pray to this
divinity for aid in his obsession.
Joining the Empire
Added Mon Mar 7 07:18:21 2022 at level 24:
After some mishaps, the most notable person in the Empire that Vyke has met is
Yei. Seductive and confident, the human reminds the bull of Her, but a
necromancer isn't Her because the black magic makes her frail, weak, and that
came out when Yei failed in a panic to properly accept Arguhs' quest in
Blackwater Swamp. Having promised her he'd make the bloodoath through her in
exchange for Arguhs' bracer, Vyke was disappointed and later swore through the
Dread Lord in an impersonal ceremony where he wasn't asked the slightest thing
about himself. Suited him.
Going to the Palace later and donating his obsessively-hoarded wealth for
immediate promotion, he was dismayed to find that the records of the Navy were
beyond him.
He would have to grow in rank.
His obsession with finding the whereabouts or the crew manifest of the Sworn
Sanguine means he needs to be the best warrior and Blade he can be.
An Elite Status
Added Mon Apr 4 09:06:05 2022 at level 47:
After much growth, and the vanishing of his less-obsessed comrades - for he
hasn't seen Yei or the deep gnome in forever - Vyke's life is more of a
cavalcade of hilarious deaths to everyone he meets. Paladins, scions,
outlanders, battleragers. His victories are few and far between, but he
finally manages to get promoted to Elite Blade after hounding both the High
Priestess and the mostly-absent Warmaster for their approval.
He prays occasionally at the Collegio, but mainly in the Palace, for Gaspare's
attention, which is also entirely absent.
But it will all be worth it once he has the rank to find the Sworn Sanguine,
he thinks. He disregards his own self in his pursuit of Being Worthy, all to
become Warmaster, because he still can't find the records. Was it classified?
Are they too old? He needs all the authority he can.
He thinks he might just be too dumb to be able to cut through Imperial
bureaucracy. Surely the Lich-Emperor can help, once he proves himself worthy.
He needs to keep proving himself.
So enthusiastic is he in this that Svahlfang has told him 'If want to build
hut next to Fang, Fang can teach like azure friend teach Fang.'. This echoes
an offer from Yohlygixx to join the Village.
Unfortunately for them, Vyke has no interest in personal power or
actualization. Only in finding the Sworn Sanguine. And it's only in the Empire
that he can do that.
And so it's in the Empire he remains, trying to impress Ceva enough to replace
Vimalg with him, making oaths, and trying to be visible.
