Description
A mysterious looking deep gnome is here looking out of place. It wears an
odd assortment of rock-like armor with bits of tanned rothe leather under
woven chainmail. The stocky form of this man shows great strength in his
forearms, legs, and furrowed brow. Never have you seen such an unsettling
forehead. His hair grows only on the sides with a patch of balding in the
middle. His boots are worn just as his hands; smoothed by time and work.
A cloak of animal skins falls behind him and overall he does not stand out
in the slightest. He has very pale in skin, like a soft off-white egg.
Suddenly, you spy a dagger jutting out from his sleeve and a blackjack
being palmed and the augural tools of his trade tell you everything you
need to know.
Role
The Farmers Market

It was a sunny spring day and Wotburd was off with a wheelburrow full of
his most prized possessions. A fine selection of perfect carrots, cabbages,
and tomato. He was a farmer by trade and his family had fallen on difficult
times. Wotburd had a wife named Emi, two twin girls named Nhawn and Yewbert,
and a little boy named Effibald. During the winter the family vacationed in
warmer climate so decided to travel to Hamsah Mu'tazz seeking spiced meats,
dry heat, and sea breezes. However, during the dinner of their first night,
the spiced meat restaurant experienced what can only be called a freak
peppercorn and chili flake accident, the entire family was caught in a fit of
sneezing. During the sneezing, a torrent of "Ahk! Choo!" were issued as the
family tried to wrangle in their children, but failed in even saying their
full names.
"Eff! Yew! Em! Nhawn!" said Wotburd, as he motioned to each of his family
members, covering his nose trying to stifle the sneezing, but unbeknownst to
Wotburd, he had accidently pissed off a very cruel undead diety. Within
moments, the Dark Lord Emnon had plagued his entire family. From Wotburds
point of view, his family suddenly was covered in sores and he had no idea
why. He chalked it up to the problems of big cities and ended the vacation
early.
For weeks his family writhed in their home as Wotburd distanced himself
to stay healthy, care for them, and also pay for the clerics to attempt to
heal their affliction. At this point Wotburd was nearly out of coin but he
had one last trick up his sleeve.
The 196th annual Farmers Market Produce Prize. First place, in each category,
would win 10 gold coins in the division of carrots, cabbages, tomato, and
fruit. Wotburd needed 30 gold coins to continue the clerics treatment of snake
bites and monkey spit to help cure his family.
It was a sunny spring day and Wotburd was entering the Farmers Market with
a wheelburrow full of perfect carrots, cabbages, and tomato.
First Place!

The Market was full of people gathering around different tents and carts to
view the produce. Wotburd set down his wheelburrow in his designated spot
and soon the judges would be by to vote.
In the stall next to him, a robed man with a pointed hat skipped into the
spot with a small, woven basket. Within the basket was a shriveled carrot the
size of a gnome pinky, a tiny cherry tomato, and a single cabbage leaf.
Wotburd snorted to himself muttering under his breath "Got this in the bag,
I do, yessir," looking down to his luxurious legumes.
The robed man chuckled and snapped his fingers, and suddenly a beautiful
table top appeared in a poof of purple smoke. A golden table skirt floated
down atop it and oddly enough, the table had no legs. It simply floated there
like a golden disk with the basket in the middle.
"Tell the judges I've just got to run to the latrines, I'll be right back!"
said the robed man. Wotburd nodded and the man disappeared.
Before he could speak up, the judges were upon the robed mans table, looked
into the basket and scoffed at the unsightly vegetables, and were quickly
looking upon Wotburds offerings.
"My! What beautiful vegetables you have, sir!" Said one of the three judges
as they all nodded in agreement. "These are the best we've seen all day, and
wouldn't you know it, you're our last table! I daresay you've rightly won
all the categories if these are all you bring for us today!" said the judge.
"Thirty gold coins and I've saved my family!" Thought Wotburd with absolute
glee.
A Dark Lord Cackles

The judge was pulling out the giant blue ribbon to pin on Wotburd when
suddenly there was a loud and irritating coughing coming from the robed man
next to them.
"Excuse me, judges, but take a look at these!" And in a snap of a finger and
an incantation of "Bigorumous Carrotomus" the shirveled carrot was suddenly a
five foot tall rippled carrot glistening with dew.
"HOLY SHIT!" said one of the judges, and the other two nodded looking
amazed and baffled. "FIRST PLACE!" Said the first judge, pinning the
ribbon on the robed man.
Another snap and the flat tomato was suddenly a veluptuous tomato the size
of a pumpkin. "First place, again!" Said the second judge, pinning another
ribbon.
A final snap, and the cabbage leaf was a beautiful vortex of cabbage spinning
and singing a soft melody. "First place! Oh my!" Said the third judge,
pinning the final ribbon.
The judges all pat the robed man on the shoulder, impressed with his
theatrics and vegetables, as they deposited the gold coins into his hands.
Wotburd sat in disbelief. This rotten mage just stole the show from him.
What was he going to tell his family. The answer was nothing, because when
Wotburd had returned home he found only corpses. They had all died from the
plague, sending Wotburd into a terrible rage of chaos and misery.
Somewhere, a dark, skeletal being cackled with glee as another BattleRager
was born.
The Beginning of the War Path
Added Fri Aug 23 14:59:06 2019 at level 7:
In the wake of those terrible events, Wotburd was left dead inside. All that
remained was an inner rage against the mage as he sat alone in his misery.
While the pox did lift from his house, there was nothing he felt attached to.
Thus, he gave up his pitchfork and turned to a life of crime and thievery
to survive. His hatred for mages built inside him and a need to torment them
changed his focus to bloodlust. He would take their coin and their life in
no particular order if he could. What he did not spend on alcohol, he would
spend on weapons or any other cruel implements he could use to bleed his
enemies. This is where Wotburd began his war path.
The Bandit King Commander
Added Sun Nov 3 14:52:48 2019 at level 51:
If they could see me now, I doubt they would recognize me, thought Wotburd.
From the farm and family to this war he wages as Commander and Bandit King.
His warpath to make mages pay with their lives is going well, but when it
gets down to it, all the blood won't bring his family back. However, it does
make him happy. He has a new kind of family. Perhaps one that needed him
more than the last.
He's been down on his luck, and then suddenly incredibly wealthy.
He's felt incredibly helpless and weak, and then suddenly incredibly powerful.
He was lonely, and suddenly he has more friends than he can count on fingers
and toes; People who look to him for guidance. He liked being a father and
in an odd turn of events, he has that same feeling again.
Fate has a way of taking you places you would not expect and thus far, Wotburd
has earned his place and respect among his peers. He has faught with anger,
cunning, and desperation and found victory from time to time. He never
imagined having these positions in Thera but now he does and he has to deal
with it or find someone he trusts to take his place.
The Rites gave him a chance at incredible perspective. He must learn to
combine all his teachings as a scout, trapper, thug, and rogue to be an
entirely new creature. A deviously versatile one. Wotburds next challenge
for himself will be to earn the mark of his Lord, the God of War.
