Description
A bold duergar stands here before you. He is about five feet tall, but
has a wide chest and strong arms. His hands are massive for his size and
clasps his axe like a claw. His eyes, dark as the night, are piercing
his surroundings, like if he was looking for something. You can notice
the fervor in his eyes, and added by the way he dresses, makes you have
an idea of his habilities. He wears a heavy set of plate armors under
his heavy robe, filled with religious symbols. He has a well trimmed,
black beard and his hair is tidy in many braids accommodated by a large
helmet over his head. His forehead is apparent and you notice two small
protuberances resembling two small horns. On the left side of his face
just beside his eyes there is a visible scar. He stands erect with a
proud look on his face.
As you inspect him closer you notice that:
Role
A past in Mortorn.

They say, that before the great wars the dwarves were one great clan.
Full of confidence, pride and love for the forge. Many remain so to this
day, lost in the past. Others chosed to evolve, heard their instincts,
and let their true nature to surface. These are today called, Duergar.
The duergars abandoned the false morals of the dwarves, and devoted
themselves to their vices. But nevertheless, they went beyond, sought
something in the abyss that is forbidden to the dwarves, demonic magic.
This relationship with demons is seen in many places inhabited by duergars,
and is a source of pride for them.
Xorkiuth was born in Mortorn, in what seems to be an eternal strugle
between dwarven and duergar. He have an obsession with this relationship
created between dwarven and the demon kind. This obsession, almost costed
his life, as he wandered near a dying demon who called forth a blast of
infernal acid to burn his skin. This experience marked him forever, deep
in his soul. After that, he was more convinced the world is much more
than plain eyes can see, and decided to learn about it.
Convicted that Mortorn, with the constant siege imposed by the duergar
to the dwarves who want to go deeper, was not the right place to find
the answers to the questions he had. Xorkiuth, decided to find a way
out of this conflict for now. He crawl in a dark passage away from the
deeper tunnels of Mortorn, ending up in the Underdark. From there, he
wandered for what looked like weeks, until he find a way out near the
svirf town. The outside was at first glance, intimidating. The amount
open space, almost suffocated the young duergar.
But this feeling did not last long, he adapted himself to the upper
grounds and discovered quickly that the Duergar had quite a fame up
here as well. That made him proud of the ones who came before him, a
inner feeling of contentment that was almost intoxicating, a pride of
being a duergar himself. He decided that he would work to live by this
feeling.
Pride, pride, pride.

Xorkiuth wandered without much goal for some time, until he set home
at the great city of Galadon. There he started hearing rummors of a
benevolent God, who was always with arms opened to embrace all and
save them from their misery, transforming them into something special,
something unique. The God, Morius.
Indulge, it is what he had heard. He found Morius holy place to be
located, in fact, at Galadon's graveyard. At his first visit to the
holy ground, he found there a book which deeply marked his soul. The
sins were to be indulged and be proud of it. A feeling of serenity
and satisfaction took his being. He was very eager to meet the Lord
himself. For now, live by the vices, pride of being a duergar, not
a duergar, the best duergar who ever walked there. May Morius bless
us all!
Among all the greater vices studied by the church, Pride is the one!
A feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own
achievements. Achievements of living and being an example for other
duergars and lost citizens. A feeling only one blessed by a Lord like
Morius could ever feel. Words are not enough, one have to Indulge!
Everyone that is proud in heart, is an jewel to the Lord Morius.
Xorkiuth is anxious to find his God, he hope to find him soon. May
Morius bless our kin who sin from within, and bless him who seek to
begin.
A supplicant of Pride

Proudly he stood at the Church of Virtuous Vices, and prayed to the
benevolent Lord Morius. Lost in toughts he was surprised by Riettlor
the Prideful, who briefly knocked him out. This was the beginning of
an interesting conversation between two very proud individuals. One
a former priest of Morius and the second an neophite aspirant of
pride.
Xorkiuth seems to have caused a good impression on Riettlor, who, took
the young duergar to his shrine to Him. There, they talked about pride
and how to properly indulge it. Before they leave, withou warning the
drow (Riettlor), striked Xorkiuth on the face with blinding speed,
drawing blood, and leaving a deep scare just besides his left eye. The
duergar stood and grinned with malice and fire burning in his eyes,
reflex of the pride rising even more inside him. Riettlor the Prideful
said: 'Something to be proud of. I don't even view most worthy of my
fist.' For sure, a mark of proud the duergar will carry on.
Leaving the church, Xorkiuth had the last words of the priest rumbling
on his mind. "Indulge in your pride and faith, and he will find you.
He always does." Xorkiuth was sure of that. He knew because he felt
really different as he left, he felt and intense power withing him, a
feeling that nothing and noone could stop him. Also, an attachment to
the demonic achievements of his ancestors, now bound to him as well.
He was proud, very proud. And now, would make Lord Morius as well.
Lord Morius, and a moment to be imortalized.
Added Fri May 24 12:09:05 2019 at level 28:
Xorkiuth had his first meeting with Lord Morius, the benevolent God
is all and much more of what he has heard and expected. He is a Father
pushing his son to greatness, and yet, accepting and loving him just
as he is. On this meeting, Lord Morius was upset as a drow arcane, had
used rude words against Xorkiuth, saying almost as he was not worth of
his magic. Lord Morius said, that offending Xorkiuth like that, was
the same thing as offending Him. And something had to be done about it.
To enforce His desired, Lord Morius shared a steak of a holy priest of
his religion, telling the duergar to enjoy the feast. The message was
clear as a blue sky. Xorkhiuth left the temple with determination, and
not too long after that, his path crossed with the dark-elven, a slave
working as magistrate of Galadon. His superiors were around, even his
Provost, so he was very confident. Xorkiuth set his plan, that ended
with the drow dead before his feet, and him carring the dissicated
finger of the dark-elf, which was chopped while he raised his hand in
a vain atempt to stop the final blow. Along, with a criminal mark,
which he left the town carring both with great pride.
This single special moment, when he completed the will of his Lord,
the first task ever asked to him by Morius, was memorable. The surge
of Pride that took control of his body, his being, his soul, cannot
be described by words. It will be carried with him, for all his life
and beyond. Xorkiuth decided to build an statue to represent this
moment, and is seeking for artists to represent himself in a obisidian
statue of his actual size, with his right hand raised in a fist high
above his head in a sign of victory, while proudly standing above the
bones of fallen enemies and with a delicately carved dissicated finger
of a dark-elf on a silver chain around his neck.
On his second meeting with Lord Morius, Xorkiuth presente the idea of
bulding a statue of himself of that proud moment, so it could inspire
others when he would be gone. He did so, delivering a small prototype
made of red crystal by an artist of the Inn. In Xorkiuth's eyes, his
Lord the aproved the idea.
A quest for a place in the cult.

Lord Morius spoke: "There is something, that is not pleasing me!" The
blood of Xorkiuth started to boil, who would be the next one to be
teached? He tought. But not this time, Lord Morius continued: "Those
cultists are not giving the proper attention you desearve. And you
are so special, unique. I will send them a message."
And so Lord Morius called a nightwalker upon his presence, showed a
clenched fist to the creature and opened his eyes! Xorkiuth could see
the terror in the face of the creature, and laughed inside. Few days
later, the Lich Coprophagous seeked out Xorkiuth, the duergar felt
his very soul being prescued, deep questions from the lich, but his
confidence never shaked, even for a moment.
Finally the lich said: "You are, in theory, a potentially excellent
cultist. Theory is not sufficient, however. A final, concrete show of
purity is needed." and the lich unveiled his plans for the Duergar,
a simple task, kill a fellow follower of Morius who is blind by the
standards of the Temple. Xorkiuth knew the task was simple, but, a
small problem was present, no other follower was in his grasp. Before
the talk was over, the lich gave a variant to Xorkiuth, who barelly
listened to it. His Pride demanded to fulfill the quest as it was
originally presented.
Time has passed, Xorkiuth waited, lost a couple of opportunities but
did not changed a bit his mind. He would acomplish his part on the
bargain and take his place in the cult. It was a matter of time.
After some time, he decided to advance his teachings in the guild, he
worked in that front, mainly strengthen his ties with his demonic
essence, until one day, he finally could feed in the very soul of a
fallen enemy corpse. He was improving, and he was proud. Upon those
opposing him, Xorkiuth was presenting the mighty of Morius, for him
it matters little is they become saved by his Lord or bones for his
church.
Important events.

Time has passed, and Xorkiuth advanced, doing things his way. The
world passed by a torment. The fortress was closed and reopened, but
the most important thing that happened was the Masterpiece plan that
Lord Morius devised. He brought back the Scions of the Eternal Night,
forging a new alliance using... the Unholy Icon of the Scarab.
During that time, Xorkiuth was in reach of the heroes of the Land, a
lone duergar fighting against the world. He judged noone worth of his
company, so he walked alone. Day after day, was a struggle, but each
day he waked, his pride gave him the strength he needed to move
forward. And so he did, facing victories and defeats with the same
pride he always had.
Two important things happened during this time, first was that Lord
Morius, with his new toy (the Scion Cabal), spoke a lot about the
need of suffering. Xorkiuth made his best to try to understand that,
but the truth is that he did not. Even so, the second important thing
happened, he was accpeted in the chasm of the Scions, with the task
to accelerate the changes the world was to soon see.
But, his Pride was tested. The archmage dared to hide secrets from
Xorkiuth. He dared to not teach him powers, he did to others in the
chasm. Xorkiuth tougth: "Do he think mages are better than me? Do
they desearve more?". Xorkiuth spoke out loud: NO!
Xorkiuth learned all he could about the items sent to another plane,
including the Icon of the Scarab. He learned It's power was not lost
just transfered. This knowledge is all he needed. So, he turned his
back to the chasm. Noone would be treated better than him, they did
not desearve his presence.
As of Lord Morius, He preached and teached so much about suffering,
thata ended up awakening an ancient Lord of Suffering, one known to
be, another Immortal to the Scions. And so, He would have to share
some of his power, again.
Xorkiuth stood to all this, doing what he does in moments conflicts,
he focused his attention to Himself, his inner vices. His conclusion
was quite simple: Indulge, not suffering.
A bargain, to be completed.
Added Wed Feb 19 05:43:36 2020 at level 51:
With his feelings set, Xorkiuth focused on reaching the pinnacle of
his guild. And so he did. Now, he wants to unfold all his potential
and live by the precepts he was born to. A life of freedom, where
his will is supreme and embracing the darkness withing himself.
Even with the events that unfold in the recent past, where the Temple
of the Scarab was emptied, he believes his place is still there. It
is not a matter of power, but lifestyle. Once with his eyes opened,
going back to the "fog" and pretend a life full off illusions, it is
not an option.
So, he pledged again to the Gargoyle before the Temple, and recalled
the bargain done with the Lich Coprophagous. "Kill a fellow follower
of Morius who is blind by the standards of the Temple." As a proof of
Purity. So the moment arrived. Noma, marked by Lord Morius as one of
His choosen, and complete blind to the precepts of the Temple. Once
again in town, with two magistrates, thinking that false laws would
protect him. There, Xorkiuth fulfilled his part of the bargain.
Since early Xorkiuth have worked with demonic powers, He knows the
power of a bargain. A bargain, must be fulfield! It does not matter how
long it will take, it has power, and it always find its way.
Soon, the Lich Coprophagous will be remembered od his part on it, and
it will pursue him, whetever he has choosen to hide.
