Description

Your gaze has drifted down to fall on the lean wiry figure of this deep gnome. He stands about as tall as a man's waist or a giants knee and his skin is the hue of wet slate. Even though his limbs seem thin and childlike he moves in heavy armor as if it were made of silk. His head is devoid of hair except for a small well groomed silver beard. His body bears the marks of several battles and when he grins there are more then a few gaps in his teeth. Looking into his solid ebony eyes you sense a spark of fierce determination.

Role

Yevandr's Spirit quest

Added Sun Oct 28 15:30:11 2007 at level 21:

Yevandr stood in the tiny cavern awestruck by the spires of crystal that rose
from the floor to meet the ceiling.  He had journeyed for 5 years from the
lower underdark searching for this holy cave where he would join his spirit
to those of the terra'nok and join in their song.  He let the song of the
stones wash about him and added his own grating voice to its harmony.  He
felt his spirit soaring as it was greeted by the ancient stone spirits which
dwelled in this cavern.All of a sudden though the song was cutoff in mid
note and replaced with a terrible shriek.  His spirit caught up with those of
the terra'nok was suddenly racing off to a nearby cavern where a wizard
wiggled his fingers causing yevandr to lift and hurl a rock at an attacking
cave fisher.  As abrutly as his soul had been enslaved it was free again and
yevandr was once more in his body.  Amazed by the turn of evenet he began to
sing once more though his tune changed from one of harmony to a plea for
knowledge.

His call was answered soon after as a rock crashed down from the ceiling
rendering him unconscious.  He saw a myriad of faces of many races whiz past
all of them uttering strange words and wiggling their fingers in hypnotic
patterns.   With each word and flick of a wrist he felt a spirit cry out as
it was ripped from its natural dance to perform feats for the mortals.  He
then saw a blood vision of himself running from mage to mage savagely and
desperatly cutting throat after to throat to ease the crys of the nok.  He
saw himself not alone but running beside a brilliant jaguar of pure light,
running under the light of what must be the sun of the overside.  Upon waking
from this vision yevandr rubbed his throbbing head and knew what he had to
do.  His  destiny was not in wanding the deep caves singing the sonng of the
earth but rather above resuming the duties of his ancestor as protector of
the terra'nok.

The Framun

The Framun are an ancient sect of nomadic svirfniblin that roam the deepest
parts of the underdark where it touches the elemental plane of earth.  The
framun live very simple tribalistic lives spending most of their time
exploring deep caverns to listen to their stone songs.  The Framun believe
they are descended from terra'nok or stone spirits that eons ago assumed
flesh form as deep gnomes to defend against some threat to the elemental
plane of earth.While they are a nomadic people they practice extreme
isolationism and never make contact with other races when it can be avoided.
As a result their numbers are dwindling and they have traveled so deep into
the underdark that they are cut off even from other underdark.  The only time
the Framun leave the deepest caves is once in each members life when they
make a spirit quest.  The travel many miles through the wild underdark to
reach a special cavern.A powerful earth node where the lines between thera
and the plane of earth are thin and even those untrained in the language of
stone can hear its song.  While the threat that first caused the Framun to be
spawned long since has passed they still view themselves as defenders of
there spirit kin and the earth in general.
