Description

Your gaze comes to fall upon and meet the look of the tan skinned, handsome man standing before you. This suave looking man has a face that would stand out among any crowd. His light blue eyes have a piercing deep gaze to them, with a faint glimmer of sadness hidden deep within. His skin is soft but sun touched like a nomad of the desert, with a neatly trimmed black beard and matching long black hair. Keeping his hair pulled back from his face is a brown leather headband, allowing his long black hair to flow freely and elegantly to his shoulders. His is clad in various armors of sorts, all neatly kept and polished to a shine. Underneath his various armors he wears lavish silks and expensive clothes, fineries clearly of expense and value. Most of his jewelry is made of gold and valuable gemstones, with attention and focus given to his attire. He is not overly large in a threatening way, but lean and muscular. Even without a threatening size he stands with almost a commanding presence around him, his sad but serious eyes twitching slightly as he surveys his surroundings carefully with a stern and interested look in them.

The Tragedy of Zakaro Warsong 1

Added Sat Jan 17 00:53:07 2026 at level 1:
Zakaro Warsong does not speak about his past, or the specifics of his origins
as the pain and memory of them still feel like needles in his heart. His
sorrowful tale did not begin as such however. Zakaro was born south of the
great city of Hamsah Mu'tazz, among the nomadic trader tribes of the Ariale
desert. His mother and father were merchants that made their living trading
desert leathers to the merchants within the city. He had a baby sister,
sixteen years younger than him that giggled and smiled as he sang songs to her
in her cradle. His people moved about the southern desert as needed to hunt
desert beasts and process their hides. There was danger in their trade, as the
savage Outlander hunters roamed the desert protecting the creatures within at
times. There was also the Chasm of Eternal night nearby, a dangerous deep pit
bored into the bowels of the desert ground rumored to house a dark and
powerful magic cult, even Undead creatures of horror. Based out of the village
just outside of the vast Sands of Sorrow, Zakaro grew up learning the value
and necessity of barter and trade. Through commerce, communities thrived and
grew stronger together. The village elder had long been pushing to get a more
protected status from Hamsah Mu'tazz, and Zakaro and the other villagers did
their parts keeping civil relations and good trade going with the city in
hopes of making that happen. Zakaro's favorite pastime was sitting around the
fire in the evenings, telling stories of great hunts and singing songs about
the desert with the villagers. Life was simple, and Zakaro hoped one day to
move into the city and open his own stall. Fate took a dark turn, and would
set the cheerful Zakaro on a very different path.

The Tragedy of Zakaro Warsong 2

Added Sat Jan 17 00:55:11 2026 at level 1:
Zakaro was out hunting with some of the other teens in the tribe, combing the
dry riverbed at night for large scorpions, the chitin from the hides was
valuable and hard to acquire, and Zakaro had hoped to impress the city
merchants with his exceptional wares this next visit. Bright flashes appeared
out of the darkness from the sound of the village, and the smoke of fire
swirled and twisted on the wind, filling Zakaro with horror. They rushed back
to the village, arriving with horror to see a massive battle lighting up the
entire desert. The outlanders of Thar-Eris had come, riding their wolves and
bears, sending them ferociously into the desert battle. The soldiers of the
Fortress, the fabled Maran Paladins clashed with beast and savage alike
calling down fire and brimstone at their call. Sorcerers with masked faces and
dark robes had emerged from the Chasm pit, opening portals to other realms and
drawing forth shadow beasts of nightmare to feast and kill. It was Chaos.
Chaos in the true sense of the word, as Zakaro had never seen in his
relatively sheltered life. The battle raged from one side of the desert to the
other, and spilled into the gates of his village. Huts and structures were
smashed and destroyed, tents caught fire, beasts and shadow demons turned from
the battle and attacked villagers, tearing them to pieces. Zakaro was helpless
to do anything, desperately taking cover and screaming out for his parents and
sister. He frantically moved to his tent through the blaze and battle, his
eyes stinging from the smoke as the roars of beasts thundered through the air.
Finally arriving at the tent, Zakaro fell to his knees in shock. His home was
crushed and thrashed, completely ripped out of the ground. His parents mauled
lifeless bodies laid hovering over his sister's crib defensively, and his
sister...his sister was in pieces, gored and mauled, left half eaten by some
beast. Zakaro felt defeated, helpless, and small. Nothing in life had prepared
him for this, and as the battle closed around him, he prepared to join his
family in the afterlife.

A thunderous horn sounded across the desert, and Zakaro looked to the north.
The Imperial army had arrived, banner high, swords drawn. What looked like an
army of troops marched out of the south gate of Hamsah Mu'tazz. In unison, the
Imperials cried out "For the Empire!" and charged into the fray, overwhelming
the desert battlefield. Zakaro felt faint from the smoke and adrenaline, as he
watched the Imperial charge before he passed out beside his mangled family.

The Tragedy of Zakaro Warsong 3

Added Sat Jan 17 00:57:07 2026 at level 1:
Zakaro awoke in the ruins of his village, the morning had come and the sun was
high in the sky. The surviving villagers were tending to the wounded using
Imperial bandages and rations, and moving the dead to the edge of the
destroyed village to be buried. He was alive, but everything in his life that
he loved was dead or destroyed. He was sad and depressed as he surveyed the
destruction from the battle the previous night. A tiny piece of his soul had
died last night with his parents and baby sister. Zakaro knew he would never
be joyful again, fate had put bitterness and hatred into his heart, and he
would carry it inside him to the grave. There was nothing left for Zakaro in
the desert, as much as he loved his home. There was nothing left for Zakaro at
all. He grabbed a burnt, unbroken bottle of whiskey and with nothing more than
the clothes on his back he walked towards the city of Hamsah Mu'tazz.

Zakaro spent days drinking, but eventually the drink became like water in his
mouth and even that didn't drown his sorrows, or douse his hatred for the
savagery that had come upon his family and people. There were so many in his
eyes to blame and no way to punish any of them. He was barely a man yet, and
hardly a great fighter. His discipline had shaken some, but Zakaro had let his
contempt for the savages of chaos fester into a deep rooted hatred and belief
to his very core. He did not wish to be a bystander, or a helpless victim. He
hung out in brothels and back streets of Hamsah Mu'tazz, panhandling in the
market humming songs. Someone pointed out to him that he had quite the talent,
and Zakaro saw an opportunity to use the talent to his benefit. By training
among other skilled bards, Zakaro could learn the traveling and protective
talents and secrets of many skilled adventurers. He could turn his anger and
sadness into something powerful and focused. He could make the ones
responsible for his sorrows feel his pain. Still numb from his losses, but
eager to try to fill the void, he headed over to the guild of Bards to show
them that he would remain unbroken.

Bloody travels of Wrath and Woe

Added Sat Jan 17 16:48:01 2026 at level 12:
Zakaro placed his boot on the drow's chest, and drove his blade down deep into
the necromancer's heart. He wiped the sweat off his brow, and flicked his
wrist to snap the blade clean of blood before sheathing it again. The victory
was a hollow one, like banquet food that tasted like ash. It was vindication
for the weeks of long days and nights learning the intricacies of Thera, and
studying the histories of the world. He was a natural adventurer, a skilled
Bard. He had tirelessly honed his body, his mind, and his voice. He took the
nothing he had, and had turned it into something. The coins gave some comfort,
but joy was far behind him. The world had made him this way. The dreary
reality of loss reminded him day by day that the world had gone mad. He was
bringing order to the chaos, one body at a time, not letting the memory of his
family grow dim for even a moment. He was good at this. He was good at getting
what he wanted, and at making others give him what he wanted. He was a warning
to everyone in Thera that there were consequences to savagery. They had all
made him. He was created out of a necessity, and though Zakaro was fueled by
hatred and disdain for everyone responsible for it, it had made him who he was
now. Zakaro was taking it day by day now. He had a purpose, it kept him
getting out of bed day after day. Worn boots and dusty roads, taking him to
the next place. Always looking for the next conquest, looking to bleed
vengeance out of the next victim in the name of his own bloody crusade of
justice. He did not know where the road was taking him, but he was certain he
was well down the path he would be walking, ready to see what was next.

We are Vengeance

Added Wed Jan 28 19:29:58 2026 at level 18:
One night after a long march spanning leagues across Thera, Zakaro was camping
off the road by the fire, strumming a harp and drinking rum, just staying warm
in the bitter cold winter air. A small toddler girl shuffled into view of the
fire from the darkness. Just larger than an infant, its arms and legs were
stitched on like an abomination. Even with a mangled face, Zakaro recognized
his baby sister Sylvie. Two more figures shambled out, mauled, burned and
bloody. He recognized his parents, staring at him silently with eyeless
sockets. Zakaro was not sure if he was going mad and imagining this, or if it
was all real. "Look what they did to us Zakaro"!, his sister wailed. "They
killed us. They killlllllllled us". Slowly, the fire became surrounded with
the fallen members of his tribe. They all joined in with Sylvie, "They
killllllled us. They killlllled us". Soon the chants of dozens of dead souls
echoed in his ears, tormenting him, reminding him of the worst day of his
life, of all his loss. Zakaro closed his eyes and clutched his head as the
chants just echoed and echoed in his mind. Zakaro whimpered, "I don't know
what to do. I don't know Sylvie! What can I do"? Sylvie whispered the one
sentence to Zakaro that would forge his path ahead. "Kill them all. Kill every
last one. Kill them for us! We are pain, we are sorrow, we are Vengeance!"
Sylvie cackled and giggled in a wailing laugh that sent chills up his spine,
and just like that, they were gone. Sylvie's words echoed over and over again
in his head. Kill them all. Zakaro knew his sister, his family, his people
were all with him still. It brought him little solace, but it did bring him
purpose. Zakaro only knew one way to acquire the power and training that would
allow him to wage such a war, and that was the path of the Empire. For the
price of his soul, he could gain limitless resources and have the ability to
rise up to be a formidable fighter in the Blade sect. Kill them all. Zakaro
set out that next morning to find an Imperial recruiter, with every intention
of avenging his family. He would hunt them all down, with prejudice. He was
not alone. They were him, and he was them, and he would indeed tear a rift in
the peace of the world punishing everyone in the way of him extracting his
vengeance.

TLDR Character Summary to Date 1

Added Fri Jan 30 18:23:38 2026 at level 18:
Zakaro is from the desert village in the Araile Desert. He was a hunter, a
singer and a storyteller. He lived with his mother, father, and baby sister
Sylvie.

His village was collateral damage in a massive three way battle between the
Battleragers, Scion, and Outlanders. His mother, father and sister were killed
and torn to pieces in the battle along with half of his village and people.
The Empire intervened and routed the battle out of the desert.

Zakaro is deeply depressed and hateful, even when he seems ok he is really
just miserable inside having lost everything. He only sings of tragedy and
loss now. He is malicious to the three cabals that had a hand in the murder of
his family, and has a deep rooted hatred for savages and chaos because of it.

He went to study as a bard, to further his natural talents. He relentlessly
honed his fighting talents and his only reason for living is to inflict the
suffering he has had to endure on all of the groups responsible. He joined the
Empire and has been brutally murdering his way to a reputation all of Thera
will know. He values the order that the Empire offered him and the structure
keeps him going.

Zakaro believes that by following the Lord Nycruvae, he can make the sort of
allegiances and loyalties that he feels he will need to extract his wrath upon
the chaos in Thera. He is wise, educated, and cunning. He binds himself to the
ledger, in order to bind so many others to him, and in turn Nycruvae as well.
Rising in the Empire is important to him, he has made himself strong and
wishes to forge the other Blades to rise to his own strength.

Zakaro had a vision while drunk at a campfire one night of his mangled sister
Sylvie, family and village coming to him as wraiths and corpses. He hears
their presence and voices in his head, urging him to kill everyone responsible
for their demise. The tragedy of Zakaro's life is driving him slowly insane,
making him even more dangerous than he was becoming on his own accord. He will
sometimes speak as if he is in company, almost as if he is in a hive mind with
his family. He drinks and drinks to unfathomable levels, as it is the only way
he can numb himself and try to make the voices in his head stop.

Within the Empire, Zakaro wishes to inspire the other Imperials during the
marches for war. By leading by example and being a stout Blade, and an asset
to the Imperial army he hopes to Empower the Empire to rise to greatness and
in turn, empower himself in his lifelong blood feud with his enemies.

Champion of the Broken Empire

Added Fri Feb 20 04:38:11 2026 at level 40:
Zakaro sat in the sect hall, feet kicked up on the table as he drank generous
portions from his bottle of spirits. He chuckled to himself as he thought
about his path to this point. He had started as a tool of vengeance for his
people. Through hardship, he became the deadliest man in the Imperial army,
the Wrath of the Empire itself. He had made himself a champion, he was
undefeated on the battlefield. All of Thera had come to witness him challenge
Thera's champions in the Arena, and Zakaro did not disappoint. In a closely
contested match where everyone expected him to lose, he nearly took the head
of the retired Provost Zindlup clean off. Even as he raised his two fingers to
yield, bloody and battered, Zakaro smiled as they had to drag Zindlup out of
the arena off his feet. Even in defeat, he had accomplished his goal and put
Thera on notice. The Empire was weakened, but it was rising from its ashes.
The Blade sect remained unbroken and unchallenged. Zakaro now stood with more
influence and power than ever, as many across Thera pledged themselves to be
useful to him without having to offer anything in return. The power of
reputation and fear were wonderful and amazing things, and Zakaro enjoyed it.
He enjoyed spilling blood in vengeance, he enjoyed conquering for the Empire.
His sorrow was less gloomy, and more malice by the day. He was intent to make
sure the Empire remained strong, he had two choices. Try to surpass the War
Master for the Throne, or press the War Master into the throne and take a seat
on the council himself. As long as a Blade sat on the throne, Zakaro was
content to let the sect's strength shine. Zakaro was a victim of success at
every turn, and his confidence reflected that. He would need to turn his
attention to the relationships around him now, and see what sort of binds he
could make to benefit himself in his allies and enemies. If he could impress
Lord Nycruvae more than any other, he could show the Lord he was destined for
more than passing as just another Blade in the ranks. He was the wrath of his
people, and the wrath of the Empire. As long as he remained strong, the Empire
would have its champion to rally behind.

Only Marching relieves Madness

Added Fri Feb 20 05:11:08 2026 at level 40:
Conquering for the Empire meant blood was flowing, and much of that blood was
coming from the savages Zakaro swore to destroy for his family and people. Day
in, and day out the whispers of his sister Sylvie and the cries of dozens of
his people echoed in his head. The voices were so loud and cluttered, and
nothing calmed them except the violent dance of battle. The only time Zakaro
could drown out the voices in his head was when he was focused on killing, or
being killed. Keeping the title of Champion kept him sane, but Zakaro knew
that no man could handle keeping the dead forever. He would have to find a way
to put his family to rest, and he was scouring Thera for magical artifacts
that might help him with such a difficult ritual. Zakaro was learning how to
balance and contribute to the Chained Ledger through the Lord Nycruvae, but he
had always had the motive of finding a way to put his family and people to
rest first and foremost to him. He hoped to use the Ledger to his advantage
with the Lord, hoping to please him enough to allow him to construct a
contract for aid in his task. If Zakaro could find peace for his people,
nothing would be holding him back from his old life. Whatever he would become
then was uncertain, but he knew it would be great. Drinking and pushing on was
a way of life now.

The War Within

Added Mon Mar 30 13:36:09 2026 at level 51:
Champion. War Master. Benefactor. Wrath. Zakaro was many things now. Conquest
consumed him as he forged a strong Blade sect and guided the Empire tactically
to victory after victory. The Emperor favored him, Zakaro believed above all
others. And Zakaro was glad to have a Blade on the Throne to allow him to
pursue his own interests when he could. The Emperor was the only Imperial
Zakaro felt was a match for him in battle, but Zakaro felt tactically, he was
smarter than the Emperor, and he used this to his advantage however he could.
As War Master, Zakaro could influence the Emperor and steer the Empire to
greater glory that would be favorable to his own agendas as well. Carrying the
spirits of his sister Sylvie and all of his village inside of his mind, voices
constantly wailing out in unsettled anguish constantly swarming in his head
was driving him to madness. The burden of the debt he takes out of the ones
responsible was heavy, Zakaro was drinking much heavier than before to drown
out the voices in his head. The debt was almost paid, but he would need to
bargain with the Lord Nycruvae to find a proper ritual to put the spirits in
his head to rest, and bring him the inner peace he so longed for.
