build. Weakly muscular, but quite fit looking features.
He has black trimmed hair that is slightly tucked around his ears.
His attire is well cleaned and well fashioned to his body.
You sense a magical glow around this man, suggesting he is a mage.
He wears a grin deep in thought, as if he is posturing or deciding.
his eyes view wide about the room, occasionally rolling them in apathy.
You notice his health and attire more closely.

Chapter 1: The new Zanitjah
Added Thu Sep 6 07:59:28 2018 at level 27:
With the Death of Zanitjah, the villagers quickly welcome me as the new
Witch-doctor of the Ju'Karl tribe. Finally, my days as an apprentice
are over. People will now look to me, as they always should have.
From this day forth, I am now the new Zanitjah, my old name forever
gone. As my first act, I abolished the long tradition of the sanctity of
the corpse after death. There is much to learn. My first cadaver was an
elderly man who lost his mind. On his death I probed his brains and
discovered significant scarring. This was in great contrast to the brain of
his grandson who died a few weeks later, having been stabbed in the
heart. In the following months, I studied the dead further and continued
to document my findings. Unfortunately today I have found out that
that the tribe has had a secret meeting without me, about me.
I can only think they wish to challenge me, of course, they fear my interest
in the dead, but their fear is simply that of the unknown.
So there is a chance this may be my first and only chapter in this book.
Chapter 2: Exile
Added Thu Sep 6 08:00:47 2018 at level 27:
It has been several weeks and much has changed. The tribe confronted me
and told me they objected to my obsession with corpses and they were going
to find a new Zanitjah. As the warriors began to circle around me, I acted
quickly and surprised them with the sleep spell. The others were shocked,
little did they know that I had been learning magical spells. The last
Zanitjah did little more than throw bones on a fire, they had no idea that I had
been learning real magic. I continued to sleep the warriors, and then I
poisoned and blinded their eyes. Finally ending some of their lives with the
Chill Touch spell. The rest managed to escape. However, that was the end
of my home, a new one was now required.
After a long trip, last night I stumbled upon a gate. As the sun came up, the gate
opened. I walked inside and looked around and saw a knowledgeable child.
He said it was called Hamsah and said there was a Necromancer guild within in.
I went straight there and visited the Arch-Necromancer. I have found my new home.
Chapter 3
Added Thu Sep 6 08:01:49 2018 at level 27:
Why does an elf have empathy, compassion, perform selfless acts?
Why is a duergar greedy and selfish? These are some of the questions
that could be answered by an anatomical assessment of the brain.
Fortunately Thera is a world where corpses line up in wait for someone
such as myself to study them. So far it is clear that each race has a brain
that is unique to their race. It is difficult to distinguish between correlations
and causation of the specific brain anatomy and their morality.
More interesting has been the study of humans and half-breeds.
With the same race but different behaviours, it should be possible to
determine the inherent contribution to morality. Unfortunately it has
been difficult to find good comparisons of similar age and with sufficient
knowledge of their living traits. However, I will continue to search for new
corpses to study. I may also get to explain if my personality is inherent or
if it was learned in the environment.
Chapter 4: The Empire
Added Thu Sep 6 08:02:52 2018 at level 27:
So I made the decision to join the Empire. Living these years in Hamsah,
the Empire was just a curiosity. The decision came because the Empire
should prove to be an opportunity to access more scholarly work that
is not available from the Arch-Necromancer. The empire wages many wars
which means there should be more corpses to study. Additionally with
some of the same foes that can be killed periodically, it may be possible to
study how an individual brain anatomy changes as their personality changes
due to the savages of war.
The politics of the Empire might be annoying, as well as dealing with
stupid giant warriors. I will need to refrain from putting them to sleep
with my magic. Hopefully the benefit outweighs the tradeoffs. It may
even be of benefit to pursue promotions so the number of distractions
will decrease.
Chapter 5: Brains
Added Thu Sep 20 07:59:05 2018 at level 33:
So I evented a technique where I would use my magic to whirl tiny iron
particles around a recently killed individual. Then stream pure mana
in to the brain of the corpse. The result was parts of the brain would
briefly glow. The glowing seems to correlate with recent activity in
from that part of the brain. I practiced this on some dwarves from
mortorn and an elf from the Island of Corte. Then with the technique
perfected I moved on to corpses of individuals with more interesting.
personalities. So far I have witnessed those of the fortress had
considerable activity in the frontal region. A region I believe is associated
with joy and moral strength. It is interesting concept that such feelings
would be experienced during conflicts that can and did result in their
death. I have concluded from my work thus far that religiosity is the key
variable. The typical fortress is so committed to the destruction of
evil that in the attempted act, they experience Europhobia of delight
that they are carrying out the wishes of their god or gods.
I need more corpses to ascertain how the probability of death impacts
these feelings.
Unsurprisingly I have found that when a victim has been surprised and
attempts to flee, but fails to do so, there is very little activity in the frontal
region. In this case, there is more activity in a region in the centre part
of the brain. I call this the prey or flight region.
More corpses, more analysis to come. I also wonder if there is a way I can
get some useful communication out of turning the corpse in to a zombie.
Oddly they can report their health in perfect tongue, but seem incapable of
of communicating the experiences of their past living self.
