Description
Shying away from the lingering ambient light that would illuminate her
tortured visage, this malnourished creature can scarcely be recognised as
human. She finds solace from her scarring behind a mask of ash, obscuring her
features in an attempt to restore a confidence she mourns with the loss of
her beauty. Void of expression through necessity, the physical pain of
emoting evident through the streaks of tears that have eroded her mask and
exposed her anguish to the world. Contrary to the physical torture she
endures, the blue of her eyes is eerily serene as she endures her torment
with a flourishing faith and greater purpose. Her porcelain skin is lacerated
and scarred, the scarlet markings swirling upon her exposed flesh like a
dishevelled and neglected doll. Whisper thin hair falls gently from her head
like a sighing spirit, white like the porcelain of her skin and as ethereal
and temporary as life upon these lands. Adorned scarcely, she burdens herself
only with the necessities of her path, immersing herself entirely in the
cyclic journey of her Goddess and the ravenous maw of death itself.
Role
Fighting Fire With Fire
Added Sun Nov 27 14:51:27 2022 at level 15:
Zera was born to a very wealthy family. Her father Eilrick, an extremely
successful merchant and her mother Ferrah, a kept beauty that tragically
passed away during childbirth.
Between the underlying resentment toward Zera for his wife's death and
his obsession with wealth and power, her father largely had little to do
with young Zera and allowed the 'help' to raise her. Despite how distant
her father was, she still desperately sought his affection, but always to
no avail.
Wealth was no longer enough to sate Eilrick, and his new bid for mayor
would bring him the power he so craved, as well as bring out the ghosts
of his past. Earning his wealth through shady dealings with very
dangerous folks was not something the public eye would take kindly to for
one seeking mayorship. Cutting these ties, however, was also not well
received by the dark underbelly that created him and whom would now see a
dramatic shift in their supply chain.
Abducting Zera for leverage, these foul bandits kept her hid away in an
isolated cabin, demanding of Eilrick that business return as usual or she
would be burned alive. These demands fell on deaf ears, as her father's
quest for power and suckling the teet of civilization far outweighed any
love he might have for his daughter.
True to their word, the bandits lit the cabin ablaze with young Zera
inside... Somehow, though, death would not find her that day. Escaping
with nearly her entire body burnt to a crisp, poor, mangled, Zera would
find the pain of her extensive injuries to pale in comparison to the
feeling of complete abandonment by her father, her only flesh and blood.
Nursing her injuries in the woods, Zera pondered the kind of monster that
civilization had created... For 'family' to abandon their offspring and
leave her to the demons of his own making was the act of a truly terrible
individual.
Desperate to obscure her deformities, she crafted a primitive mask from
the burnt remains of the cabin that she barely escaped with her life.
Lost and in chronic pain, she would wander the lands, aimlessly searching
for her place in it all.
Finding solace only in the cooling waters, the currents would eventually
deliver her to the Goddess Rarywey, where she would find a deep
appreciation of the death that she had so narrowly escaped.
Feeling in debt to death, Zera would come to find herself as a protector
of this cycle, knowing very intimately that true bliss comes AFTER the
fire... She would bring fire and destruction to civilization that breeds
such terrible monsters such as her father and exact her pain on those
like him.

Pain Management
Added Sun Dec 11 23:29:45 2022 at level 33:
From the time I wake until the time I sleep, the pain of my wounds gnaws
at the front of my mind... The only time I have mild relief and a sense
of clarity is when I'm taking a soak in cool water. Given that, I decided
to keep a journal to capture what coherent thoughts I could muster in
these rare times of peaceful reflection.
As I sit here in the Silverwood pond watching the smoke rise from the
city of Galadon, I think back to my meeting with Lady Rarywey not long
ago and how I already see things in a new light. I've vowed to Her to
uphold the cycle and wield my pain against those deserving, returning
them to the soil for their souls to be cleansed and injected into the
very veins of Thar-Eris in the hopes that they return as something more
worthwhile.
The Lady Rarywey has taught me a thing or two about my pain, but as for
now it is still incredibly crippling. Despite that, my faith remains
resolute and only grows stronger. I have no doubt that I will overcome it
and be able to truly embrace my pain one day soon.
Eyes on the Prize
Added Sun Dec 18 14:01:07 2022 at level 42:
Through my faith in Rarywey, I've learned to embrace my pain and have it
drive me to impossible new heights or reject and suppress it to have
moments of clarity and see beyond my pain. My faith in Lady Rarywey was
clearly not misplaced.
With my pain under control, my goal of crumbling civilization and erasing
the scars of Thar-Eris with the death, flames, and destruction necessary
has come clearer into focus than ever. Like rot, from the death of
civilization life will return. Such is the cycle.
I've surrendered myself to the currents and wonder where they will take
me next... I pray that the Lady Rarywey guide me down the next path
toward my ultimate goal and enable me to pull off such an impossible
feat. My faith in Her has never been stronger.
