Description

A cloaked and hooded figure moves like a predatory beast, weight balanced over carefully placed feet and ready to react. Slender but deadly-looking weapons rest upon a belt and bandoleer wrapped around a narrow chest. The leather and chain armor makes no sounds you can hear, shifting like a second skin with the graceful movements. From within the hood two points of red-orange glow dully, only rarely blinking. A slanting beam of light illuminates a sharp jaw and thin lips that seem set in a slight frown. The skin shown is ashen grey in color, smooth and satiny. The moment is gone, and the hood is shadowed once more. Looking closely you see that

The Stirrings of the Spirit

Zinsizin was always a miserable male dark-elf from the city. Matrons took no
great interest in him, he was a menial laborer and shock soldier. He never
felt satisfied with his life below the surface, he knew he was destined for
great things, he could feel it with every breath he took. Each day in his
youth spent in training and drudgery of slavery to others left him more and
more suffocated. 

His life took a turn one evening when he was spending a night off in a
duergar drinking establishment in Aran'Gird. The entire night he had seen a
duergar anti-paladin showing off his strength by cleaving kobolds and other
various slaves in half, and picking fights with anyone interested. Zinsizin
knew that without his unholy magic the duergar would be nothing more than a
duergar, and when making eye contact with the brute he stated as much.
Zinsizin had always been strong willed, but had never been strong of body.
One thing led to another, and Zinsizin ended up with an axe cutting into his
scalp. Instead of killing him though, the duergar added insult to injury by
claiming that killing him would make his weapon weaker, that the soul of
Zinsizin was too weak to even be considered for such a weapon. 

An annoyance of anti-paladins began there, which would follow by a hatred of
magic as a whole once Zinsizin discovered the surface and the weaklings
therein. He swore that he would develop a spirit strong enough to face any
opposition, and a body to match it. He knew he was destined for greatness.
For now, he trains.

Strengthening the Spirit

The surface has proven to be a worthy testing ground for Zinsizin's strength
of spirit. He is able to take out his hatred upon magic on a day to day
basis, savoring every minute of battle as if it were his last. He has
developed a series of beliefs about strength and spirit, particularly magic's
impact upon the soul of an individual. He believes that magic seeps into a
persons soul, and gives them a false sense of strength, mages can accomplish
unbelievable deeds through their training in the art of magic, but Zinsizin
believes that when their lives are spent, the magic they have attained will
leave them for another, and their souls will be so much the weaker for
spending the entirety of their lives depending on the crutch. Zinsizin seeks
to destroy these mages before their souls become too weak and dependant, he
hopes to prove that magic is not strength, and that he, with no magic, is
able to crush the deceptive force, thereby inspiring others to wish to better
themselves without using it. 

Zinsizin has joined the Village of Battle. Temporarily he picked up the
nickname 'Butcher of the Barbarian Village' due to his success in killing
mages. Zinsizin chose to become a defender of the village. He knows that
without the village to stand against magic eventually the world itself would
become so overrun with mages wielding unnatural powers that it would be
destroyed. Zinsizin hopes that his ability with killing mages will inspire
his brothers in arms to fight all the harder, strengthening their own spirits
so that they can transcend to better things upon their deaths. Zinsizin feels
that by choking magic out of this world he is allowing others the opportunity
to grow without the use of magic, so he chooses to give items of great
strength to Tahren to thicken the veil at every opportunity. 

Zinsizin is not a typical dark-elf. He has grown away from his enjoyment in
thoughts of tormenting elves for pleasure. His battle has shifted from the
light, to mages completely. He will fight those of the light if challenged,
and hold a grudge when they interrupt him from his true battle. He enjoys
such challenges, and will likely participate in acts of aggression towards
those of the light who have repeatedly assaulted him, but such is not his
main focus.
