Description
Hair like the heart of midnight, eyes, islands of onyx in a pool of rich
blood, skin the coal color of darkest sin. Lithe to a point just short of
unseemly, with the appearance of taut strength beneath, the body extends
more than half a foot over five, perhaps by two, even three inches. The
years seen by this creature cannot be easily discerned, the face unlined
and the hair untouched by silver or gray. Raiment befitting one of wealth
and stature covers much of the flesh but artfully lays bare tiny patches
to tantalize the eyes. Otherwise your quick glimpse tells you that

Recent days have taught some important lessons. An old adage perhaps ignored proves true: sometimes,
you can get more with a carrot than a stick. How easy it often is to manipulate or prey upon the weaker
willed or overly desirous of my feminine charms. Just this day a thief, who I had never met and
certainly never gave more than the time of day, up and gave me gifts, two things I had been
wanting for some time. All because I was - of course - a competent traveler who made him significantly
better ad doing the work of killing things, that I needed him to do so I might talk my guildmaster
into granting me yet another title. A kind word here and there, a well placed smile, a timely spell...
And he was putty in my hands, giving me what I wanted, and saying "discounts are for customers, allies
get things for free". Allies? I could barely contain my laughter. But, of course I did, and the
lesson is clear. Sometimes, I don't have to rip the flesh from their bones to get what I want.
Also, I have recently become less and less interested in the empire, having watched many of them
flail about innefectually unless they were a hoard. Smacks of inability to earn, to achieve, on one's own.
It certainly does not help that they have such a low view of those of my profession. I hadn't known
that when I came to these surface lands, and learning it has given me great concern. I will not be seeking
citizenship.
At the same time, twice now I have seen lone mages acting strongly, taking what they wish, and
simply beating their foes. Both times they were accompanied by a creature I'd not seen before, what
looked like a nightwalker. I have done some investigating and they are part of what are called the
Scions of the Night. My preliminary information seems promising, and the stories of them talk of some
who inspired fear and respect in all thera. Just as I will. So perhaps I will pursue that course.
We will see.
Her surroundings

The lands she's come to are strange. There are seemingly endless numbers of ignorant peons,
farmers, shopkeepers, worthless creatures to be used and cast aside at whim. But there are some,
ostensibly like herself, who appear more travelers, visitors almost, from elsewhere, and who might
be seeking power or advantage of some sort or another for themselves. The guilds don't seem
to mind teaching anyone who shows up and asks, for a measley fee. While at first this made
her upset, annoyed, it quickly became a source of pleasure, because without others of real
strength, how can she prove her own? How can she take from them what she wants with pride? How
can she declare herself superior, with all she lusts for, if there are none of any worth to take from?
She has seen now that many are ahead of her on the path. But she vows none will tread it better
than she, and in time, they will acknowledge her in her rightful place.
Beginnings

The truth of it all, the sad and unsurprising truth of it, is that Zisussayan just screwed
it up. When the time came, she couldn't hack it and made the mistakes she simply couldn't afford.
All the years of training and practice, wasted. All the hopes and dreams, gone. All the things that
had been just within her grasp, just within reach, taken away. She was ill equipped to handle such
failure, indeed it hadn't ever even ocurred to her that such a moment could come. It didn't take long
for her mind, in an attempt at self preservation, to begin to twist the events, to place the blame for
her downfall on the shoulders and deeds of everyone else, of everyone but her. And to fuel her already
well developed sense of entitlement and lust for more.
As a result of her failure, she was of course banished, sent out with nothing but what
she could carry, and what skills and knowledge she had at the time. No friends. No family.
Nothing but herself and the serpent of fury inside that grows every day, compelling her to
work, to refine, to earn what she knows is hers and which was taken from her wrongly (though not wrongly,
of course). She is consumed with the drive to become not only known, but feared. Not only strong,
but powerful. And she will take whatever she wants. In time.
