Description

At six foot four inches this human is not only massive, but, imposing. The bulk of this human is quite incredible. So much so, that his mass plays an optical illusion with the two axes strapped to his back, making them look far smaller than they actually are. His face is handsome in a hardened sort of way as if his face had long ago become accustomed to not smiling and decided to look its best anyhow. A beard of stubble decorates his face indicating an attempt by the man to shave occasionally. Straight, unkept blonde hair of a darker shade is pulled back for practical reasons that aren't difficult to guess at. The only feature that seems a bit out of place is his deep brown eyes that hint at something other than the battle-hardened killer's eyes seen in most warriors.

Role

A Tale Around A Fire

Added Wed May 4 11:16:49 2011 at level 25:
The wrinkled and very aged elf sat on a seat of wood built up high so that he could look
over the many faces that had gathered around the fire and they could see his clearly. The
faces weren't like his. No, he was an outsider to this tribe of humans. They were strong
people, hearty from the cold climate and rugged terrain of the north that they called
home. Despite being an outsider, he was welcome to their fires and he had been granted
their attention this evening.

'You all know the story of your tribe as that heritage has been passed down through the
generations. Yet, tonight I will tell you the story I know of your tribe as I know things
lost over time.

It was many, many winters ago. Too many for most of you to count. It was before your
father's time, and his father's and even his. It was about this season, cold and wintery.
Two men known to the world as Battleragers trekked through the snow covered plains
that ran along the mountains in pursuit of a group of Scion mages.'

At the mention of Scion mages some of the adolescent tribes members hissed in disgusted
before being hushed by their elders.

'It was a dark time. A time of prophecy of both good and bad things to come. The era of
the serpent marked had just passed. The Scions, always in search of some dark new
magic, were believed by the Battleragers to be on the search some new artifact related to
the imprisoned god Zurcon.

The two Battleragers had tracked for weeks and early one particularly frigid morning
they caught up to the Scions just as they had come upon a tribe not much unlike this one.
The Villagers, ever brave, devised a plan and attacked swiftly. Unfortunately, they had
underestimated the number of Scion mages they were tracking. What they believed to be
three magi with all sorts of dark servitors actually turned out to be double that number.
The battle raged, and it washed into the tribal camp. The men of the tribe rushed into
battle but these hunters were no match for the skilled magi and their nightwalkers,
undead and demons. The magi and nightwalkers did not discriminate between who they
slaughtered be it axe wielding tribesman or innocent child and woman. The tide turned
and the two Battleragers bloody and exhausted knew they were simply too outnumbered
to win this fight and decided to retreat.

Tale Continued

Added Wed May 4 11:18:18 2011 at level 25:
Their retreat took them through the tents of the village, and while passing the tent of the
Chief they saw the Chief's wife bloodily strewn across the snow with her babe left to
freeze crying next to her. Having pity for the child one of the Battleragers scooped the
child up and carried him off with him.

The two Battleragers knew that in the snow the only hope they had of escape was to try to
lose the magi in the forested mountains so that direction they ran. The magi gave chase
and through their magic were able to keep steady pursuit. The chase led deep into the
mountains. Nearing exhaustion the two Battleragers knew if they would soon be caught
and slaughtered if they kept running in this matter. The dark magic of the Scion's allowed
them to give tireless chase. Deciding to take a risk, the two brothers in arms strapped flat
pieces of wood to their feet they had hastily hewn from the fur trees of the mountains and
jumped off the steep side of the mountain child in hand, sliding to the bottom with speed
on the flattened pieces of wood.

The risk worked and the two men with child in tow escaped the clutches of the Scions.'

Tale Final

Added Wed May 4 11:20:49 2011 at level 25:
'Now, the Battleragers were warriors. Not raisers of children, so they decided they must
bring the boy to safety to be raised. The Battlerager that picked the child up decided he
knew a kind woman who lived in relative seclusion who would be able to raise the boy.
He brought the boy to this woman and together they decided he should be called Zun.'

At the mention of the patriarch of their tribe, who lived many centuries passed, the
peoples faces brightened and they began to mutter excited approvals.

'The Battlerager left the boy to be raised by the woman and went back to his war. From
time to time he would go to visit the boy and watch him grow. Zun grew tall and he grew
strong, much like you people. During his visits the Battlerager would teach the boy about
his past, about the destruction of magic and how to use a blade.

Zun would grow into a strong warrior, ever passionate about what he did. He was said to
have a good heart. He always felt anger at the slaughter of his innocent tribespeople who
didn't raise a blade to fight. He grew to believe that those who took up a weapon in battle
made the choice to do so, and should accept the consequence of death, and he believed
that magic - no matter the form - was a terrible weapon not fit for man. Those who took
up weapons, good or bad, lost their innocence. He believed those who did not should be
protected and left to be, just as his tribepeople should have been.

Zun came to believe as the Battlerager had taught him. That magic was dangerous and
should be rid from the lands. Deciding to shed his innocence, he took up his axe and left
to join the war on magic.'

Upon finishing this sentence and young blonde haired girl seated and the elves' feet
raised her hand. With a gesture and smile accompanied by the words, 'Yes, child' the girl
spoke up.

'How do you know all of this?' the girl asked shyly.
With a laugh and an easing smile, the elf said, 'Why, child, that is because I am the
Battlerager who saved Zun and took him over the mountains. I am, after all, over 13
centuries old.'

Tale continued

Added Sat May 14 12:11:12 2011 at level 33:
Vordallaen, the old elf looked out over the crowd as they settled down once more and continued his
tale.

Zun joined the warriors guild in Galadon and learned the skills of a warrior. He grew strong and earned
a place among the Battleragers as a hunter of magi. He hunted with fervor and passion learning to hone
his skills along the way.

His compassionate disposition toward the innocent made him to be considered by many pure of heart,
which indeed was true. He was a good man, although many cursed him because he accepted his loss of
innocence by taking up the axe and wielding it against the blight of all mankind, magic. The first time he
slew a magician of the light the magician swore at him and called him a killer and a wolf in sheeps
clothing. Zun felt his soul burdened with the task but he knew that his deed was true. The man, no
matter what he claimed, had taken up his weapon of magic and therefore was susceptible to the
consequences.

By now, Zun had grown into a skilled warrior of his guild. He still had quite a ways to go until mastery
and the pinnacle of his guild, but, he was no longer a novice, well trained in the arts of war and battle.
He had chosen to take up the name Sa Zul which meant loosely survivor of the horde, referring to and
never forgetting the Scion horde that obliterated his Village.

The Elf's Tale Continued - Orcs and Hats

Added Mon May 23 12:35:08 2011 at level 43:
On one particular day, Zun was out hunting for magi. An activity he was particularly fond of doing when
he came across what appeared to be the recent passing of an orc. Zun despised orcs nearly as much as
he did the magi for he believed them to be disgusting creatures with absolutely no value to the world.
He began to search the area for the orc when he came upon a traveling merchant.

At first, Zun paid little more attention to the man than a courtesy nod as he passed him by when he
suddenly noticed something about the merchant that stunned him with the reemergence of something
long forgotten. It was the mans hat. He had seen that hat before, it was amazingly familiar yet he
couldnt put his finger on it. Zun traveled for half an hour more mulling over this simple hat. There was
nothing special about the hat, except it was cut in an unusual style. It consisted of two pieces of fur
sewn together with dog like ear flaps that fell down around the cheeks and could be tied underneath
the chin. Really, there was nothing special about the hat until the realization hit him.

Zun remembered seeing that hat as a young child. The memory was so vague it was nearly dreamlike yet
somehow he knew that that hat had been somehow connected to his people. Turning around, Zun ran
for several miles until he caught up with the merchant. He asked the man where he got the hat, and the
merchant had to think on it a moment. He said he had had it for many years, but, then he remembered
where he got it. The man said he had come across a small group of ragged looking people, gaunt from
starvation. They asked him for food and he felt sorry for them so he traded them some food for the hat.
The merchant said he had never before seen a hat quite like it and that it was really quite warm.

The story stunned Zun. People traded him the hat. Was it possible that he wasnt the only survivor of
the massacre? Zun vowed to find out. Vordallen said to the transfixed audience of tribes people before
him as he continued his tale.

Tale - Treatise of War and Orcs, again

Added Wed May 25 18:41:29 2011 at level 50:
And so days passed, battles raged and blood was shed. This was the life Zun had chosen to live. It was
the life of a Villager. Some days were filled with Victory, others he felt the sting of defeat. On one such
day as the later the Nexun hordes were at the gates of the Village. One Villager fell at the gates before
Zun arrived to make his stand. He battled at the gates and took the upper hand against one of his foes.
Sensing victory, Zun gave chase to the wounded Nexun all the way to a healer. By the time Zun was
able to catch up, it was too late, the man had received attention from the healer and the tide of the
battle turned fiercely and Zun fell to his defeat.

Zun contemplated this battle and it led him to the conclusion that it was a tactical error to leave the
Village in chase when they were outnumbered as they were. It only served to weaken the defenses. In
times such as this it is best to take the best defensible position available and not abandon it until Victory
had been had or defeat was inevitable. This realization had brought Zun to think on wars of the past
years. Of the ones that ended in victory, and the ones that ended in defeat. He thought about the
actions that led to these successes or failures and how they fit in with the words from the war room. On
these thoughts he began to formulate and write his Treatise on War.

Another event worth noting during these times for Zun had to do with his disdain for orcs. It is no
surprise that he would harbor such an opinion of orcs consider his teacher. Me, an elf. Yet, his
comrade Hraustir did not share his feelings for the diseased monsters and suggested that Zun discuss his
desire to behead orcs with the Warlords and Village leaders. Zun did as such and was instructed by the
Commander Syther and his mightiness, the Reaper that would be Lord Malakhi to those of you who do
not know him by that ancient name to not hunt the orcs unless threatened by them. Not wishing to
compromise his place in the war and knowing what it meant to follow orders, Zun, although
disappointed, agreed to do this.

31 68 Iunna Per some post-PK interactions with a goodie mage, this goodie rager doesn't seem to care when he kills goodie mages.
31 68 Iunna Zun tells Smedgarton 'I've never sided with the light or dark. I've only concerned myself with magic. I could argue that Maran are nothing but killers too.'
31 68 Iunna I lowered this guy's alignment to make him less good, but I'm guessing in the future this may not be enough based on the above statement.
33 78 An Immortal An Immortal added 400 exp for: He got into Battle, accepts his fate as a pure hearted rager that has to kill good mages, and took the last name "Sa Zul," which loosely translates into survivor of the horde.
50 131 An Immortal An Immortal added 400 exp for: A defeat in which he left the village to chase a wounded Nexun got him thinking and now he's going to write a Treatise on War. Also, he hates orcs, but won't hunt them because the elders told him not to.
