'SERPENTINE STAFF' (1611)
Syntax: commune 'serpentine staff' By imbuing a staff derived from a plant with the essence of a serpent, a druid can breathe life into it, creating a loyal companion to assist in their travels. The staff must retain its natural purity, and cannot be one corrupted by magical influences, lest the serpent spirit reject it. Both the craftsmanship of the staff and the power of the druid who calls the spirit will affect the potency of the supplication. If the staff is destroyed while animated, the druid will not be able to salvage it. To return the spirit to freedom, the druid who invoked it may simply state 'Return to the wilds!', and the serpent will heed their call.
